Did the New York state legislature just accidentally make it a crime to merely OWN a firearm?
See page 22 of the posted bill, s2230:
§ 41-a. The penal law is amended by adding a new section 265.01-b to 5 read as follows:
6 § 265.01-b Criminal possession of a firearm.
7 A person is guilty of criminal possession of a firearm when he or she:
8 (1) possesses any firearm or; (2) lawfully possesses a firearm prior to
9 the effective date of the chapter of the laws of two thousand thirteen
10 which added this section subject to the registration requirements of
11 subdivision sixteen-a of section 400.00 of this chapter and knowingly
12 fails to register such firearm pursuant to such subdivision.
13 Criminal possession of a firearm is a class E felony.

Darn iPad I meant to say damn lol
LOL. Good!
Its hard to tell because they also stopped teaching English in NY about 20 years ago.
Not sure about that I doubt every single dem wanted this..does ideology trump everything else..yes..but seeing those lines in San Francisco of all places of people buying guns I doubt they were Republican..after all..Republicans and San Francisco usually don’t mix
Thanks kiryandil.
Those elected demonic-rats want this because they’re all about control of the ignorant masses. History has proved that too many times.
Seeing that photo of Hitler..never in my wildest dreams did I think history would repeat itself it’s looking like it is..those who forget history are deemed to repeat it..seems too many people have forgotten the holocaust and need to be reminded what happens when a dictator takes power
Exactly right and it’s shocking to me that the Jewish democrats are FOR gun control. Shame on them most of all. Idiots.
Had to rinse my eyes a couple of times but sure looks like it.
They seem not to see what the reality is this:
I loved every minute I drove through mid-state NY. I stopped in wonderful towns and the folk there were smart, fun and friendly.
How sad the former lead the latter.
No. The clause refers to firearms already in legal possession which are now subject to registration requirements. Those would be semi autos with two qualifiers and ten round mags or shotguns with carry handles that control the pump action. Failure to register becomes criminal possession. A trooper told me today the magazine restriction includes handguns. He said the US pistol team would not be allowed to compete in NY. He was disgusted by this law and said it would do nothing to make the state safer. He quickly agreed when I suggested that a 20 year old guy driving a Sonata with an upper speed capability in excess of 125mph is a far greater danger than a law abiding citizen with a Ruger mini 14 in his house.
What are normal rifles and shotguns called instead? Long arms? Or simply rifles and shotguns?
Every time I drive through New York State, I make it a point to fill up my gas tank just before entering. And Glad I do, otherwise could not stand I’d be financially contributing this kind of constitutionally insulting legislation.
Can’t stand to have my own capital used against me.
The public schools(D) no longer teach history. They teach social(ism) studies.
Accidentally - nope!
And not including antique firearms.
No they did not because that would be a violation of the Constitution.
Hate to break it you man. The first picture is where all the people are. Pastoral scenery sure is pretty, but it doesn’t vote. The former can’t help but lead the latter because they outnumber them so vastly.
“The folks at kimber (Yonkers, NY) are in deep sh!t.”
So are the folks at Henry (Brooklyn, NY)
Lost in the penumbra...
