Signs and Wonders: Hannity ratings drop, debt ceiling, minimum wage hikes, spirituality

Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity predicted a Mitt Romney landslide in the presidential election. When that didn’t happen, Hannity’s audience abandoned him in droves. According to Nielson numbers, Hannity has lost about half of his audience since the election. This sort of drop is not unusual. News shows generally have higher ratings in the months leading up to elections. But compare Hannity’s numbers to Fox colleague Bill O’Reilly’s. O’Reilly lost about 30 percent of his audience. Both Hannity and O’Reilly still have numbers that top 2 million viewers per night, so they’re still cable powerhouses. But Rachel Maddow on liberal MSNBC will now occasionally beat Hannity. This ratings reversal would have been unthinkable just a few months ago, when Hannity regularly had an audience two or even three times that of Maddow’s.

I used to occasional catch Hannity on the radio if I was driving when he was on. Always found him to be a weak GOPe cheerleader. Since the election debacle, I don't listen to any talk radio or watch any news at all. I had a subscription to Rush 24/7 that I let lapse. I don't watch Fox or Beck's channel anymore. Last time I watched Beck, he and a panel all predicted a comfortable Romney win. Those guys don't know diddly; and they refuse to address the issue of voter fraud.

Don’t watch Fox, it’s not a conservative news station. Have subscribed to The Blaze and enjoy Glenn Beck.

“I don’t think the ratings just fell all of a sudden..I for one stopped watching his show when he got to full of himself..Same with O’Reiley both let the popularity get to big for them..”

I’ve “taken the cure” since the election. I realized that “fair and balanced Fox” wasn’t a whole lot better than any of the rest of them. So I’ve turned off the TV insofar as national news is concerned. I got tired of all the sis boom bah music and all the “theatrics.” It was taking entirely too much of my day. Now I can see what’s happening on sites like FR without all the commercialism and I have three or more more hours a day do do something more productive. The only one I miss is Judge Napolitano and we all know how his show turned out.

"He also said 2008 was the most important...actually he says a lot of stuff is the most important ever..."

LOL...every day on his radio show, he plugs his TV show for that night indicating it will be a "special edition of Hannity," and he will have the same guests he had the night before.

I believe that viewers are dropping off of Fox for the same reason I have. We have just witnessed the most massive voter fraud in history and we don’t hear a peep about it.

Agree, although I've not watched FoxNews (Hannity or anyone) in years. His rinse and repeat lib guests (Juan and Beckel) format grew old. No doubt that Hannity (or ANY other host who predicted a Romney win) has lost viewers/listeners for not addressing the issue of why they were so wrong...FRAUD.

Maybe Fox won't address the FRAUD because of how their Benghazi investigations went...completely ignored and then swept under the rug by this *administration*. Maybe they figure any attempts to uncover the truth, these days, are futile.

Until they begin to stand strong for the truth, I won't be tuning in.

I might glance at the News if my husband has it on but it is not one of my favorite things..once the election was over I gave up on news I figured out there was none..Just Obama and his ilk feeding the morons what they wanted to hear..

I have to say here I do watch Glenn Beck but not as much as when it first came on..So I don't want to lie here..Just none of the Me.me crowd..

My new year resolution in 2008 was to not watch any cable news show anymore, except momentarily maybe as I go through the channels. It’s been great.

Surprisingly, I found that stuff still happens, whether I know about or not!!

I think you are right. People feel like ‘what’s the point of keeping up with things when there isn’t jack I can do about any of it, I don’t matter’ and might as well watch American Idol with the rest of the sheep.

I haven't had a TV since 2002. If there's some significant video excerpts, I can typically catch a link here on FR.

I *listen* to Hannity only in the sense that I have the radio on in the background at work during my afternoon hours, mostly because it's on the local news/talk station. I probably catch about 20% of it, and somehow get the feeling that the 80% I miss is no different than what I actually hear.

I used to listen to Rush all the time, then I stopped after the Elian Gonzales thing...I got tired of spit flying out of my speakers. The only time I hear Hannity is on the way home as I go through the channels. Thanks to mp3s, cds and satellites, I can listen to music of my choice. The only talk show I listen to is Tony Macrini in the morning...WNIS750AM in the Tidewater VA area. The only tv news, is the local stuff.

Say what you will about Medved, but he does tend to pick very good guests.

He gets some of the most demented wacko left-wing callers out there though. I find them tough to slog through since he does not do an especially good job of countering them.

Hannity is just bad radio. And Levin is unfortunately on a station in my area with a really bad signal.

>I saw the news that Hannity’s rating are in the crapper.<

.
The guy sermonizes and whines at the same time.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he became a demokrat talkshow host.

(To be fair — I wish I had his hair.)

I’ve noticed that when some caller disagrees with Medved he chops them off, just like Hannity.

Hannity is first and foremost a Republican. He has to carry the banner for the party, no matter what. People get weary of that after a while. He will rebound because people also like to oppose the current government which is 2/3rds controlled by the Democratic Party.

Hannity is losing audience because he is not a Conservative, yet claims to be

Hannity is now pushing Illegal Alien Amnesty.....pushing Phony Con RINOs like Marco Rubio for President....and of course butt-surfing with Fox News Liberals like Rove and Dick Morris

Conservatives are wising up to the Fox News Liberals I

He doesn't counter liberals well because for Medved conservative radio is just a schtick.

He does not have the principles, no principles, no argument.
