Republicans need to "have a discussion on guns" in the wake of last week's grade-school massacre in Newtown, Conn., Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told his conference Tuesday.
Speaking to his troops at a closed-door meeting in the Capitol, Boehner was mindful of conservatives' traditional opposition to new gun restrictions, emphasizing that Republicans wouldn't do "anything knee-jerk," according to a lawmaker in the room.
But the Speaker also said he wants to "de-politicize" the issue of gun violence, which has been thrust dreadfully into the national spotlight following the murder of 26 people 20 of them young school children at Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday.

Boehner, what part of “Shall not be infringed” is so damned hard to understand?
I think of you would agree that this man is not to be trusted.
I hate to say it but it looks like he's seeking out the opportunity to do just that.
John, shut your loser ****ing mouth.
You do not speak for me at all, go away.
“NO”
There’s nothing more to say.
Why should Republicans have a discussion on guns? Our position is correct. Our position saves lives. Our posiition is constitutional.
The Democrats should have a discussion on guns, because they need to accept the fact that gun control is killing people.
I thought there was a movement to kick Boner to the curb?
My Grandfather called guys like Boehner “weak sisters”.
I guess he was right.
Discussion point 1, why were all the teachers disarmed so they had to fling themselves at or try to distract the shooter.
John, you are the government. How about a discussion on your salary?
start discussing the US govt running guns to Mexico and being responsible for hundreds of deaths...what happened to our gun control laws then? if they can run guns in violation of law and get innocent mexicans and US federal agents killed and go unpunished, who’s next? Boehner should be fired innediately,
Sixteen GOP House members want to dump Boehner as speaker.
According to Sean Hannity, if one more GOP member signs on to dump Boehner, he’s gone as House Speaker.
As Captain Picard used to say, “Make it So!”
How about a discussion that gun free victim zones get people killed? How about a discussion of the merits of training and certifying teachers and other staff to provide an armed response to an active shooter? How about a discussion of all the benefits of an armed, polite society? etc. etc. How about an active offense by the GOP rather than a whimpering defense that will concede new restrictions at the very beginning?
Amnesty is not far behind either.

Flip on this one, John you old bastard, and there will be no hole deep enough for,you to hide in...
If the House Republicans cave on a gun ban, I’m done with that party. I might as well vote for Democrats. At least they’d give me free stuff.
