The independent states of America: Tens of thousands demand to secede from U.S.

Bid for freedom: People from the states marked in red have lodged petitions asking to break away from the rest of the United States since Obama returned to the White House

Although America carried President Obama confidently into a second term last Tuesday - not everyone is jumping for joy at the prospect of four more years.

Tens of thousands have put their names to secession petitions in 20 states, asking that they peacefully become independent from the rest of the country.

The documents have been lodged on a government website We The People - and Texas has almost enough people behind its petition to warrant an official White House response.

“That’s provided the GOP (or what remains of it) runs a grass roots, bare knuckled, patriotic conservative.”

That’s a huge, huge assumption. Given the past 20 or so years of history, what makes you think they will? What part of the character of the gop leadership would actually go along with it?

The gop is a dead party walking, the 21st century equivalent of the Whigs.

The US Army does not have enough manpower and equipment to occupy one mid sized state in rebellion, let alone 20 or more. If you factor in defections it is even worse for FedGov.

All it requires is for at least one state to cross the symbolic gesture of secession for Obama to react.

thats the goal, we want him to react, we should expect him to declare some form of retribution, restriction of movement, curfews and even the importation of UN troops to secure that particular states offices.

That is our goal, to push Obama over the ledge, its enough to just make a symbolic gesture, we need a particular state, even an obscure one with basically nothing to lose.

We need someone to step forward right now.

The more we can get Obama exposed the more of America will become energized to rebel against his dictatorship.

But how would the states secede without taking their liberal strongholds — the cities — with them. Would Missouri leave St Louis and Kansas City behind???

But the important question is how will this realignment affect the BCS football conferences?

The Texas petition has exceeded 25,000 signatures and so will receive an official response from the White House.

And this will be the response: You 25,000 can prepare for a rectal probe from the IRS. This is why we are beefing up this organization.

Kind of sounds like the next big movemet? We tried to get them stop spending us into oblivion and they won’t.
So, now we sever ties?

a modest demonstration of US military might would be enough to change most petitioners’ minds.

I believe most of our military would not participate. If they do, they AND their families would never be able to walk freely in society again.

I believe that should Obama give any order for any branch of the Armed Forces to point guns at American citizens they will do something drastically much more patriotic.

So I say we keep up the pressure to corner obama into that decision regardless of IRS investigation threats.

Fear mongering has no place here and the IRS are NOT gods, demigods or too big or too well armed. They are humans no matter what they do and they are employees of America, WE hire them in the long run.

I also believe many secessionists would gladly fight and die, but the war wouldn’t last for more than a day, if that. I know it’s possible to secede, I just don’t think it’s possible to succeed.

Your thinking is 19th century. The last thing anyone needs to do is throw down the gauntlet and provoke violence or a military confrontation. Did the left try to start a war and conquer the nation 100 years ago when our nation started trending leftward? Unfortunately no, or they would only be a footnote in history books.

But if you keep the idea out there it is the natural solution to a divided nation eventually both sides will decide it is a good idea OR we will realize we have to change course to preserve the union. At the rate we are spending the federal government is on track to destroy itself anyway. The states had better start looking forward to the day when they need to stand alone.

And the left does not look at the productivity of the right as something it needs -- that is why they are printing cash at an insane rate. They do not understand that ultimately that cash has to be backed up by productivity. That is one of the very issues that separates left from right.

What they do understand is power. They are absolutely ruthless in its application.

I do think that people in flyover country get tired of being pushed around by a few coastal states.

Add Calif/Wash/Oregon and NorthEastStates to your equation, and the race is nearly over before it starts.

That’s a real tiny piece of the country to be pushing around the remainder. And it represents the lion’s share of entitlement spending, too.

So not only do they push us around, but we also fund their stupidity.

Not an accurate map. The 1/4 of coastal states touching water would be their own socialist countries. The inland portions of the coastal states would never join with them.

I think Texas would become a leader among the conservative states, and the coastal socialist portions-of-states would be barren wastelands very shortly due to lack of agriculture, manufacturing, etc.

Jefferson was right.

“I view great cities as pestilential to the morals, the health, and the liberties of man.”

The gop is a dead party walking, the 21st century equivalent of the Whigs.

The safe path to irrelevancy. The "me too" party.

Meanwhile the producers who have been voting republican woke up Wednesday morning to find that a geographically small part of the country that contributes nothing it its success now outnumber them.

We can either fix the situation or live out our lives as the productive slaves of an immoral underclass that hates us.
