Bid for freedom: People from the states marked in red have lodged petitions asking to break away from the rest of the United States since Obama returned to the White House
Although America carried President Obama confidently into a second term last Tuesday - not everyone is jumping for joy at the prospect of four more years.
Tens of thousands have put their names to secession petitions in 20 states, asking that they peacefully become independent from the rest of the country.
The documents have been lodged on a government website We The People - and Texas has almost enough people behind its petition to warrant an official White House response.

All of this is very interesting for the political world. It will probably have little effect otherwise but it does qualify as a disturbed and unhappy group of voters. I sure hope that their ideas and actions spread...
Secession is an American and especially a Texas ideal:

What it will take to get the ball rolling in Texas is pressure by a few business bigwigs on Gov Perry.
The ISA can create a weak federation to handle defense and foreign affairs. This Congress can meet twice a year for one month each, once on budget and once on other matters.
They don’t need their own capital, the capital will revolve annual at state capitals.
Very interesting.
The time has come to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Good deal, I’m all for it. What else can we do to let that Chicago gangster Communist he isn’t going to have an easy ride. Congress isn’t going to fight for us, its left up to us. We need to make a statement loud and clear. The Comrade will probably just laugh at it...let him laugh.
I was just on that site and voted. Alabama is well past the amount needed yet the map is showing “grey” ?
Should we petition to create a Southern Illinois independent state?
Back in the 1980’s I read a series of novels by William Johnstone about “Tri-States”. This was a constitutional government established in western Montana, northern Idaho, and eastern Washington lead by the charismatic Ben Raines.
I cannot recall what the event was that lead to the formation of Tri-states but they were always fighting the “Federal forces” from Washington, DC.
I’m ready. The election was stolen by a marxist muslim and his gang on November 6th. Are we going to continue with business as usual? We won’t if we want to survive.
CWII a-brewing, perhaps?
If over half the population wants a Marxist government, maybe it is time to split into two nations.
This Russian Proffesor must have been on drugs when he thought that Virginia,West Virginia and states immediately to the South would join up with the northeastern states.Thats dumb.
Their history’s don’t show that at all.So why he thought that i’ll never know and niether will he.
Obama responds to the twenty or so states demanding secession.
That crap never fails to crack me up. Canada? LOL
I don not believe that Idaho, Utah, of Arizona would ever want to be affiliated with the coastal areas of California, Oregon, or Washington. The eastern portions of those states are dark red while to western coastal areas are deep blue.
Hopefully there will be a big earthquake that will take these areas and make them REALLY deep blue!
What we may need to do now is start a procession from Idaho, down through Wyoming, Arizona and Texas , and make a clean sweep to the Atlantic.
It's probably a little hyperbolic at this moment to consider the country fissuring this way, but considering the widespread corruption, election fraud, union bullying, and strident propaganda that has allowed certain urban areas to dictate the rest of the country's leadership, I don't think it's much of an exaggeration to state that the country already has broken up. This is not a President or an administration that has the slightest intention of healing anything; their strength is through hatred and divisiveness. And we have four more years of this to go before the same team ramrods Hillary through for eight more.
