David Petraeus, the retired four-star general who led the U.S. military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, abruptly resigned Friday as director of the CIA after admitting he had an extramarital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, according to a new report.

A man in his position, during war, where the lives of thousands depend upon his judgment, must keep his mind on business and NOT on "monkey" business.
I don't see how he could look himself in the mirror, after sex romps followed by services for those fallen under his command.
His staff would have known and should have exposed him, no pun intended. If it was a one time thing, it's not nearly as bad as something, from appearances, that went on for sometime. That we don't know yet.
Then again, a man of honor under such circumstances would never have allowed himself into such a situation in the first place. War is hell...
Yep, that’s interesting.
Btw, is NBC still the news media that’s run out of a Whitehouse office?
Did I say that or you trying to put words in my mouth?
The Broadwell’s seem in no hurry to scrub.

Well, “transformational leadership” sure sounds like Obama’s fascination for the word “transformational” is rubbing off on people.
Maybe she seduced him. She may have been trying to extract secrets and other juicy details from him for her writings.
“Bitch set me up.”
Furthermore the WH is claiming that they didn’t know about this mess until yesterday. Give me a break. POTUS not notified of a potentially huge security breach? I don’t believe it, but if they didn’t it is because POTUS was also being investigated.

The timing of this makes me suspicious. What is the time line of this affair? Is it recent or has it been going on for some time.. How was it discovered.. I don’t trust this group..
If he was fooling around while he was still on Active Duty, maybe they should look at bringing him back on duty for a day and reducing him in rank.
why are you defending her Marcella? Apparantly you have never had a home wrecked by a narcissistic vagina
I agree with you, really. I’m just surprised there’s only been one post blaming Gen. Petraeus’s wife. (I assume she is in her late 50s and not as attractive to the poster as Ms. Broadwell.)
Is she your sister or something?
The book came out in January 2012, but the author was “embedded” in Afghanistan with Petraeus in 2010. So likely this was going on for several years.
It controls the world... or at lest half of it.
“If she is rotten on the inside, Petraeus is rotten on the inside because he went after her so he was rotten before she was”.
I assume you weren’t there, so you have absolutely no idea who went after who, although I would suspect that since she was writing about him, it was probably the other way around.
But ultimately it doesn’t matter. They are both lowlifes.
“My opinion is that it was the thrill of having the power to F*&* up peoples lives ... probably including her husbands, why not? I assume hurting her children wasnt a motive, but you never know.”
That is projecting - making up a story. He wanted her or it wouldn’t have happened. She wanted him or it wouldn’t have happened. That is all we know and both are at fault since they were married to other people. We know nothing else. Most of these posts have dumped on her as the guilty party - whore/slut, with no bad names for the general and that is bunk. Historically, women get the blame for the man not keeping his penis in his pants. Actual prostitutes would be broke and quit that job if there weren’t gobs of men wanting to pay for that. Men create that job but let’s blame the women, certainly not the men - bovine scatology.
Aren’t they all?
Yes, my original comment was speculation (not projection, as I haven’t the slightest interest in other women’s husbands.) Yes, Gen. Petraeus and Mrs. Broadwell are equally responsible.
