Welcome To The FR Canteen September 11th Never Forget September 11th is designated as Patriot Day, in memory of the nearly three thousand people who died in the September 11th, 2001 attacks on our Country. "After the attacks on 9/11, America resolved that we would go on the offense against our enemies, and we would not distinguish between the terrorists and those who harbor and support them. All Americans honor the selfless men and women of our Armed Forces, the dedicated members of our public safety, law enforcement, and intelligence communities, and the thousands of others who work hard each day to protect our country, secure our liberty, and prevent future attacks." "By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), the Congress has designated September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day." "I call upon the Governors of the United States and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, as well as appropriate officials of all units of government, to direct that the flag be flown at half staff on Patriot Day. I also call upon the people of the United States to observe Patriot Day with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and remembrance services, to display the flag at half staff from their homes on that day, and to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. eastern daylight time to honor the innocent Americans and people from around the world who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Hi, Kathy. I appreciate your pings, and read everything, thought I rarely post.
I have been thinking all day about tomorrow. All those people; all the families whose lives were changed. My prayers are with them.

Sorry for the double post! I accidentally hit the left click thing on the mouse before it posted. When this happens, I try to go back, but it’s always too late.
Take care, everyone in the Canteen. Even though I was living here, I will never forget that gorgeous September morning; I had just dropped off my son at kindergarten, and heard about the first attack on a NY radio channel. When I got home, I turned on CNN and watched, live, as the second plane hit. I started to cry, thinking, how many people have I just seen die?
Then they said that the Sears Tower in Chicago could be another target; I panicked because my dad was working as a lawyer in downtown Chicago.
And of course, like so many, I couldn’t reach any of my family in the States; the phone lines were burning.
There are really no words to express that day, and I say that as someone who lived in another country. I cannot even imagine what it must be like for Americans living in the U.S. on that day.

Thank you, luvvie ... we will NEVER forget.
God comfort the families of those innocent
souls murdered on that day, and bless and
protect our incredibly courageous troops
and comfort their families.

~Remembering 911~
*** Psalm 46 1-7 1. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3. though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
4. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. 5. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. 6. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

I’m working on a memory....I think Mike Moran was at a 9/11 fundraiser and Hitlery(?) was there, maybe talking when Mike spoke up.
FReeper doug from upland wrote the song. Hope I got most of the story correct. dfu....corrections or the filling in of the spaces?

Good evening, Delta....a hard day indeed. And it is made harder by those who have forgotten, or just don’t care, or even cheer the attack on our United States of America.

Aloha again Night Owl! ((HUGS))A half and half day today and that goes for both the news and the weather.
Thanks for noting Barbara Olsen and Joe Moran in the thread; sorry for not joining in sooner but just know that on 9/10 I've never slept well and tonight's no different.
