She who must not be named

Posted on 08/31/2012 7:51:28 AM PDT by Spartan79

I've heard that the Romney team vetted all speeches made at the recently-completed GOP convention. Now, I didn't watch the whole convention and only caught the speeches by both of the Romneys, Ryan, and Christie, but I did do a quick word search of the text of the speeches by the Romneys, Bush, Christie, Ryan, Rice, Huckabee, Santorum, as well as McCain and Cruz. In all of these speeches there was not even so much as an oblique reference to Governor Palin, not even by Ann Romney, who glossed eloquent otherwise on motherhood, McCain - who selected Palin as his running mate, or Cruz, who, as he himself has admitted, owes his primary win to Palin.

Sarah was also scrubbed from the lineup of Fox contributors on the last couple of days of the coverage.

Did anyone who may have watched or listened to parts of the convention I missed notice any mention at all of the GOP's candidate for veep in the last cycle. Just wondering. I know the convention was quite properly to be a celebration of Romney, the nominee. But it sure smells like a Stalinesque "disappearing" by the eGOP is underway.

Who cares?

They didn’t mention Ron Paul either—again, who cares?

I like Palin, but we shouldn’t build a cult of personality around her or anyone else.

I’m pretty sure I saw Ms. Palin on with Hannity for quite a long time last night.

Well, I’m sure the MSNBC and Daily Kos crowd would have had a meltdown if Sarah Palin was there or mentioned.

Then again, they are having a meltdown anyway over Ryan and Romney and Clint Eastwood. Liberals will hyperventilate no matter what the GOP does.

I for one am not that suspicious of nefarious dealings and machinations with the campaign about her, whether she attended, appeared, or spoke.

She had a prime seat chance very early on to affect and influence the selection of our candidate; she chose to demur. Had she done anything remotely indicative of running, I’d have given her my bank account if possible.

As it is, after-game quarterbacking is pointless and just fodder for MSNBC, Politico and all the other hyena scavenger mouthpieces for the Democrat Party

"I like Palin, but we shouldn’t build a cult of personality around her or anyone else."

Actually, what this shows is the mental and moral smallness of the GOP establishment. She WAS the GOP vice-presidential candidate, after all. Making mention of her in a convention speech is hardly building a "cult of personality".

It also shows that that same GOP establisment is scared to death of her.

There was a video tribute to Ron Paul, & his son Rand spoke. I’m not certain, but I think Rand mentioned his dad at least once.

They had a video tribute to Paul as he is retiring. IMHO, they should have pulled it after the antics of his delegates.

Ted Cruz for one mentioned Reagan - he quoted his “tear down this wall” speech. Also there was a video featuring Reagan.

Oh good grief. Why does it matter whether they mentioned Palin? She’s a TV personality now, not an elected politician or someone running for anything. I don’t recall if anyone mentioned Dan Quayle either, and actually was an elected VP.

Earlier yesterday, I read that the words “tea party” were never uttered a single time in any speech at the convention. I find that pretty amazing as well (if true), considering the monumental impact they had on 2010.

I'll vote for Romney, but my donations go to SarahPac.

Therein lies the danger to RINOs ... and they know it.

Why would they reference Palin? This election isnt about her. If I recall, she chose not to run.

I noticed there was no reference in any speech to Tea Party, grass roots or conservative {except for 1 mention by Clint Eastwood]. I am afraid he will do to the conservatives what his father helped do to the Goldwater conservatives, John Birchers and others. George Romney attacked them as being racists nuts and dangerous whackos. Romney will do all he can to undercut any move to the right.

Why should Sarah Palin have been mentioned? Sarah isn’t, Sarah was.

She said it herself on Fox Business Channel while speaking to Niel Cavuto. She said there was a new vice presidential speech and her chapter is closed. Repeat....her chapter is closed.
