Feds retaliate against another critic of the U.S. government.
(SALEM / RICHMOND) - A decorated U.S. Marine who served his nation in two wars, Brandon Raub, of Richmond Virginia, was arrested for airing his critical views of the U.S. government on Facebook this weekend. We just reported yesterday that a Human Rights activist in Bahrain is being prosecuted for six Twitter messages. Politically, this country is increasingly resembling Bahrain and other nations that arrest those who speak out critically over federal policy.
His mother, Kathleen Thomas, says it is another case of the word 'terrorist' being applied to arrest and detain a citizen. You can hear the pride she feels for her son when she explains what he has been through, and by all counts Ms. Thomas makes her points loud and clear.
The law enforcement officials rolled up to the man's home around 7:00 last night. "He was there, the FBI, Secret Service and Chesterfield Police showed up in a storm," she said.
Thomas says her son was questioned about why he was writing certain comments, "He basically said 'I have some disagreements with the government and share this', and they said, 'You have to go with us'".

I guess Mr. Raub was under the mistaken impression that The Constitution he fought to defend, was still in effect. Silly boy!
Wouldn't exactly call some of that "patriotic," but whatever.
Yeah, until I know more about what he posted there, I’ll withhold judgement.
> The agent asked about whether her son was violent, Thomas
> explained that he was not, but that he loves his country.
> She asked the FBI agent if freedom of speech still exists
> in the United States.
>
> “Yes we still have freedom of speech”, Grainger
> reportedly said.
All is well, then.
‘Truther’ dude gets taken away in a paddy wagon. Was a straight jacket mentioned?
WTF?

Regardless of hos postings..it’s a free Country..?

I don’t think any of that is what got him in trouble.
It was essentially threatening to kill people over it that did.
"I have some disagreements with the Kennedy Administration and I am letting Americans know about them," said former U.S. Army Major General now civilian, conservative activist and anti-communist Edwin Walker. "Put him in the asylum," ordered JFK and RFK.
Gen. Walker "resigned his commission after being publicly and formally admonished by President John F. Kennedy (JFK). [Civilian, conservative activist and anti-communist Edwin Walker] was an attempted assassination target of Lee Harvey Oswald on April 10, 1963 . . . [Walker] was temporarily held in a mental institution on orders from President Kennedy's brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. RFK demanded that Walker receive a 90-day psychiatric examination. . . [but a] coalition of liberal and right-wing leaders [forced] Attorney General [Robert Kennedy] . . . to back down, and Walker spent only five days in the asylum . . . ."
I might add.. Walker's conservative and anti-communist views caught the wrath of that era's MSM and they published lie after lie about him including that he led violent attacks on blacks at a Mississippi university. Walker sued but the SCOTUS ruled the the wire service (AP I believe) simply made a mistake. I think that when General Walker reached his 80s the Congress granted him the retirement that he forfeited when he resigned his commission to fight against communism in the U.S.
Walker was a W.W.II special forces hero and Korean War vet. (He led the troops at Little Rock, Ark. school integration under orders from President Eisenhower 1959, IIRC.)
My emphasis above.. if this Marine is being treated like JFK and RFK treated Edwin Walker we damn well better see to it that the Marine gets the same protection that Edwin Walker got. Even the ACLU helped Walker back then. Now?
Conservative: Disagree with what he said, but defend his right to say it.
Leftist: Agree with what he said, but arrest him anyway to shut him up. (Making us look bad.)
I wonder if LE somehow linked him to the group.
I looked at the guy’s Facebook page a little bit. He’s a 9/11 truther, but that’s certainly no grounds for arresting him. I didn’t see anything on there that would be the least bit worth arrest and involuntary commitment but I didn’t look back very far, just a few days.

If he is an active soldier and this were a military matter, then why is the FBI, Local Police and Secret Service involved? Shouldn't he have been arrested by Military Police rather than Federal civil authorities and local police?
I have a feeling that sooner or later they will be tracking down everyone on Free Republic and giving all of us the same treatment.
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you need to threaten to report me to the Admin if I dont add you to the list...
One of those arrested was from my town in Nebraska, he was wanted here and in Kansas for threatening to kill police officers, and leading them on a high speed chase where he crashed and got away.
