I don’t think any of that is what got him in trouble.

It was essentially threatening to kill people over it that did.

1. The references to “Sharpen up my axe; I’m here to sever heads”???? That’s a lyric from one of Raub’s favorite bands. In the song “Bring me down”.

2. SCOTUS decisions are clear. You can write what you want, and say what you want, as long as it does not involve imminent danger such as shouting “fire” in a crowded theater. Or in the case of gross violation of a communities standard of morality such as pornography. Neither was the case here.

3. Given the above, the FBI agents and others that were involved should be suspended. They should be either dismissed or retrained. Wherever the orders were issued from should be investigated and the person responsible should be dismissed for cause. No pension or benefits should be given to those that have violated the Constitutions protections of free speech.

I don’t agree with a number of the things that Mr Raub put on his Face Book pages. So what? “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
— The Friends of Voltaire, 1906 (By Beatrice Hall)

On the subject of Constitutional rights: True patriots must sometimes hold their nose to support principle. If we allow the erosion of our rights by the government, we endanger the rights of all. As Benjamin Franklin stated: “We must all hang together, or surely, we will all hang separately!”

I agree. I previously read them here on FR, but strangely, have not seen them repeated in this thread or the othet two listed by dirtboy. It is a crime punishable by at least 6 mo jail term in TX to make a terroristic threat. I think that it is also a felony (not sure). It seems to me that some of this Marine's statements were serious enough to warrant some kind of intervention.
