ELBERTA, Summerdale --
President Obama's decision to talk gun control and discuss a ban on assault weapons are hot topics along the Gulf Coast.
Despite the tragic, shooting massacre in Colorado, gun shops continue to sell AR-15's and AK-47's to gun enthusiasts and sportsmen.
The AR-15 is NOT widely used in crime.
According the FBI, of the 199 homicides recorded in Alabama in 2010, handguns were used in 112, hands, fists or feet were used in 17, knives were used in 23....none were committed with a rifle.
Gun control has and will be debated for decades...an issue now on presidential campaign agenda.
Take your tag line to heart old man
Yeah, the days of the cheap surplus kits are pretty much over now - the supply is trickling down to naught. Get a good one soon or forget about it for less than the price of an M1A from Springfield.
I thought it was a Glock 9mm & Glock .40, but, regardless.
It seems the guy did the research on the _first_ firearms anyone should buy, and those are the makes/models/calibers you’d see recommended for such a person.
believe me....I do.
no quarter.
I love this picture...saw it the other day here at FR.
do you know where it took place and what the situation was?
That girl probably refused to work overtime in the Apple I phone factory.
gotta love the safety procedures for this army/police...
duck down a little more, Wang, I dont want to clip ya.
Yeah, but then he went and blew it by buying a jam-o-matic drum with a bad rep. Well, that and such a minor thing as hosing down an occupied theatre, attempting to blow up an apartment building, etc., etc.
I’d also point out how glad I am that he didn’t decide to go get a 7.62 NATO battle rifle or there would have been a lot more dead people in that theatre. At that range, 7.62 could have penetrated several people before losing significant energy.
Here’s a good ‘field’ comparison of the energy differences between the 5.56, 6.8 and 7.62.

You sound like a guy I’d like to have a beer with sometime. Just don’t gimme’ any crap about clips, hahaha.
The observations about the Nidal Hassan massacre were that the caliber he used caused the high injury rate with the relatively low death rate because the rounds went through his victims (without transfering all their energy to trauma) and into others behind them.
The next pictures on this roll of film are far too gruesome to post here. She is missing everything above the ears and nose. But in Obama’s world, she was a criminal, not a soldier, so no guns for her.
In fact there is a civilian version of AK known as Saiga.
It lacks a select fire capability and mostly identical to military AK variants regardess this fact.
There is no ‘assault’ ban in Russia. Everything beyond artillery caliber without full-auto capability is citizen legal. Detachable mags holding more than 10 cartridges aren’t welcome but AFAIK the punishment is simply confiscating that mags or a little fine.
Don't you mean, "Duck down a little more, Wang, I don't want to magazine ya."? :)
Just google China, executions, lao gai, free tibet etc. You will find anti-communist free-China websites with all of the details and many, many more photos. That one is the best because it encapsulates so much, on the cusp of life and death: A “soldier” with an AK-47 executing a “criminal” who is being held in place by trainee executioners.
the M1A/M-14s have been pulled out of cosmoline for the sandbox....guess the terrain and people are a bit tougher than back in the 60s/70s. good choice.
And in the news right now is China arresting tens of thousands internet users for bashing communism.
The ARmalite became the Colt Automatic Rifle.
Therefore, the correct answer is dependent on what time period is being referenced.
Dad was a WW2 Marine....then NYPD
He would often interchange the words...I would never correct him.
I will have that beer sir...pass the peanuts.LOL.
