The rolling stones-You can't always get what you want

YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT (M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Choir: I saw her today at a reception A glass of wine in her hand I knew she would meet her connection At her feet was her footloose man

No, you can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want And if you try sometime you find You get what you need

I saw her today at the reception A glass of wine in her hand I knew she was gonna meet her connection At her feet was, footloose man

You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want You can't always get what you want But if you try sometimes, well you might find You get what you need

Oh yea-ay (hey-hey-hey, oooh)

And I went down to the demonstration To get my fair share of abuse Singin', 'We're gonna vent our frustration If we don't, we're gonna blow a 50-amp fuse' Sing it to me, now

(You can't always get what you want) (You can't always get what you want) (You can't always get what you want) But if you try sometimes, well you just might find You get what you need Ooh baby, yeah, ooh

I went down to the Chelsea drugstore To get your prescription filled I was standin' in line with Mr. Jimmy A-man, did he look pretty ill

We decided that we would have a soda My favorite flavor, cherry red I sung my song to Mr. Jimmy Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was 'dead' I said to him

(You can't always get what you want) well no! (You can't always get what you want) tell ya baby (You can't always get what you want) no But if you try sometimes, you just might find, mmm! Mmm! you get what you need Ooh yes! Woo!

(Instrumental & choir) Ooow-ooh!

You get what you need Yeah! Ooow, babe! Ooh, yeah

I saw her today at the reception In her glass was a bleeding man She was practiced at the art of deception Well, I could tell by her blood-stained hands Say it!

(You can't always get what you want) yeah! (You can't always get a-what you want) ooo-yeah, baby! (You can't always get a-what you want) But if you try sometime, you just might find You just might find You get what you need

Ooh, yeah! Ooh, baby! Woo!

Ah, you can't always get a-what you want No, no baby

You can't always get a-what you want Tellin' you right now

You can't always get what you want, mmm! But if you try sometimes you just might find You just might find, that ya Get what you need Oooh, yeah!

I'm tellin' the truth, babe

Ooow-ooh! Ooow-ooh! Ooow-ooh!......../p>

"Vision Quest" was a forgettable 1983 movie with Matthew Modine, shot in Spokane. From that film came one of the few Madonna tunes I came to like.

"Top Gun" made a mint for everybody concerned and helped cememt Tom Cruise' new persona. From that film came this memorable tune.

I never "forgot" Linda Fiorentino.

Back then, I would have wrote bad checks for her.

"While I Live" is a classic British weeper from 1947, and it wears well for a chick flick. Charles Williams was a movie composer who wrote for a number of British and American films. He wrote one unforgettable movie theme from this film.

Billy Wilder followed up "Some Like it Hot" with an absolutely bitter comedy-drama about infidelity. "The Apartment" from 1960 possesses one of the great emotional trips in all of film. Fred MacMurray was never better than when he was playing a total SOB.

Charles Williams scored an American film for once, and his song from the film complements it perfectly.

Speaking of Billy Wilder, his best film was “One Two Three” which featured “Sabre Dance” throughout the movie.

Cagney had a blast making that film.

Maybe the single greatest comedic performance ever in a movie....Funniest line, was when he said to Schlemmer, "Well now you're back in the SS....small salary."

20th Century Fox led the studios of the Fifties with finding a song for a film that would help market it. Tom Lehrer made fun of the whole trend in his comment about "The Ten Commandments Cha-Cha-Cha". But Alfred Newman and the guys at the Fox Music Department always managed to find something to fit the bill.

"The Flame Still Burns" from Still Crazy. Great soundtrack from a movie that received little play in the US.

Second choice is the John Galt theme in Atlas Shrugged Part I.

Few today remember the 1941 British film "Dangerous Moonlight", either under that name or "Suicide Squadron" under which it was also released. It's a pretty decent film about the Poles who went to England to form a squadron of their own within the RAF to fight Hitler.

The producers first thought of using Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto as a theme, but everybody in London was using it in one movie or another. So they asked Richard Addinsell to compose some fake Rachmaninov for this film, and he and arranger Roy Douglas put it together. Douglas' arrangement in the style of Rachmaninov was so successful that even today people hear this movie theme and think it was written by the great Russian master.

Addinsell: "Warsaw Concerto"
