Upon further review and discussion here, I've concluded that the majority opinion of Chief Justice Roberts in the ObamaCare case was exactly what this country needed. He effectively took the heap of crap that had been dumped in the halls of the U.S. Supreme Court and tossed it right back out where it belongs: in the homes and businesses of every U.S. citizen who has allowed this bunch of fools in Washington to govern us this way.
Think of it, folks ... Any obligation of the U.S. Supreme Court to deal with this idiocy went out the window the moment that dingbat Nancy Pelosi stood up on television and said: "We have to pass the bill to see what's in it."
If I were a Supreme Court justice, I wouldn't spend 30 seconds of my life reading a single legal brief in a case involving a Federal statute that was passed even though the Speaker of the House of Representatives didn't even read the damn thing before voting on it.
On top of all that, just consider this: There were 28 states that filed legal challenges to ObamaCare, either individually or jointly. How can 28 states file legal challenges to a Federal law that was passed in the U.S. Senate by a 60-39 margin? If I'm sitting on the Supreme Court and the Attorney General of, say, Pennsylvania (which is one of these 28 states) comes in for oral arguments in the case, my first and only "question" would be: "If you have such a problem with this Federal statute, why don't you take it up with Bob Casey, Arlen Specter and those nine House members in your state who passed the damn thing ... along with the idiots in your state who cast their electoral votes for that jug-eared Kenyan nitwit in 2008?"
No flames... just defeat. You cannot paint this awful decision as anything but evil.
LLS
He not only ducked his responsibility as the Chief Justice of the supreme court to PROTECT Americans from unconstitutional laws but he established an EVIL precedent that will be used to justify government mandates over our behavior in the marketplace for decades to come.
Yet.
The precedent will be with us for decades.
I am in eastern Kentucky where talk radio is hard to tune in. I had to listen to NPR flunkies spike the football and bait conservatives today.
And I am paying their salaries....Why?
The American public gets what they deserve for electing this imbecile and the others that go along with him.
Sadly the rest of us must suffer along with them.
I keep thinking it took Carter to Get us Reagan, But to paraphrase another Senator: Mitt Romney is no Reagan.
The SCOTUS had no problem canning some of FDR socialism programs even though he and the democrats won in landslides
Why should this have been diffrent
Roberts was wrong period. He cannot be trusted with lives of hard working Americans. He is as evil and corrupt as any creature who haunts the halls of Washington. There is no silver lining to this except the realization that we will now have to take extreme measures to limit the governments power to tax and enslave citizens of this country. Make no mistake Roberts knew exactly what he was doing and that he made a decision that may destroy the lives and livelihoods of millions of good people.
Problem is Mr. Inactivity directly benefits from this ruling, the inmates in the Labor Camp suffer.
Gee...I don’t know.
I wonder if his epilepsy medication had anything to do with his “decision”.
As with all meds, it has side effects.
(remember, the swearing-in of Bath-House Barry had to be re-done...)
I dont think Cokie Roberts could have done a worse job.
In concept I think you are right....but Robets isn’t our daddy handing us a good spanking for being such fools...
He should have killed it and in his decision handed out a ass whopping to us fools ....
The thing was constitutional or it wasn’t
It’s as simple as that...
Personally, I think the whole thing is going to collapse under its own weight because it can’t be implemented and will be violated and/or circumvented with boring regularity anyway. You think an unemployed 28-year-old Occupy Wall Street demonstrator is going to pay a “fine” for not having a medical insurance policy? LOL. An important consideration in this case is that the OWS guy is going to have Tea Partiers on his side, too.
Alberto Gonzales next to Reno, Holder is the worst Attorney General vetted this idiot.
I donated to Roomey today, never thought I would
Those swing states just went to Roomey as well as the Senate.
I know. What's worse is The (current)President will be with us for decades.
There is nothing that gets the Am people riled more than tax issues. We fought the Revolution because of unfair taxes. Roberts knows this. He’s just thrown fuel on the fire.
Power to the people! /s
For Roberts to take it upon himself to TRY AND FIND A WAY TO MAKE OBAMACARE WORK is one of the biggest farces ever to come from the SCOTUS. This case was about the Commerce Clause.. Why didn't Roberts try just as hard to find taxing someone for their inactivity UNLAWFUL?
YOU HAVE TO BUY SOMETHING TO BE TAXED, DON'T YOU, YOU DUMBAZZ ROBERTS? FUJR!
