The Justice Department sent a letter to Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner Thursday evening demanding the state cease purging its voting rolls because the process it is using has not been cleared under the Voting Rights Act, TPM has learned.
DOJ also said that Floridas voter roll purge violated the National Voter Registration Act, which stipulates that voter roll maintenance should have ceased 90 days before an election, which given Floridas August 14 primary, meant May 16.
Five of Floridas counties are subject to the Voting Rights Act, but the state never sought permission from either the Justice Department or a federal court to implement its voter roll maintenance program. Florida officials said they were trying to remove non-citizens from the voting rolls, but a flawed process led to several U.S. citizens being asked to prove their citizenship status or be kicked off the rolls.
Six members of Congress wrote Gov. Rick Scott earlier this week demanding that he stop purging the states voting rolls since the process improperly flagged numerous individuals who were eligible to vote.
To enable us to meet our responsibility to enforce federal law, please inform us by June 6 of the action that the State of Florida plans to take concerning the matters discussed in this letter, Christian Herren, chief of the voting section of DOJs Civil Rights Division, wrote in the letter obtained by TPM. Specifically, please advise whether the State intends to cease the practice discussed above, so that the Department can determine what futher action, if any, is necessary.
The liberals can’t stay in power without cheating, it’s time to stop them!
Hear! Hear!
Gov Scott got an email from me on this. The Voting Rights Act doesn’t preclude governors from purging rolls of the deceased and illegal persons. I’m sick and tired of the Liberal establishment trying to hijack elections, and Gov Scott is doing the right thing by keeping elections honest.
If Jeb Bush had done this same thing as governor prior to the elections in 2000, my guess is that Florida wouldn’t be looked upon as the whipping boy for Gore’s failed attempt at the White House.
I think I would rather join everyone in encouraging Gov. Scott to secede from the Union while there is some vestige of freedom left.
Is it clear to everyone on FR now that THE DEMOCRAP PARTY IS A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE??!!!
The 'Rats are in the final stages of overthrowing the Constitution. Will just one election solve the problem? [:-/
All citizens should periodically reconfirm that they are not dead and eligible to vote. I have always taken my voter ID card with me to the polls, along with a government issued ID.
There are problems with those who register, sight unseen and then request to vote absentee. The groups that do registration off site, have proved from passed actions that they could care less if the individual registered is legal, illegal, out-of-state, or nonexistent). I can't prove it, but there is evidence that some of these groups even handle the absentee voting for those registered (many people registered at one address, or nonexistent addresses.
Every time a dead certificate is issued, that person's name should be purged.
I would really like the state to compare the list of those who voted in northern states (where snowbirds spend their summers)with those who vote in Florida, and purge those who voted twice, notify the northern state and demand proof of permanent residency to be added back on Florida's rolls.
Students who vote both in their home county, or home state and also at their university address should also be purged.
There is no question that those who are not citizens (legal resident or other), yet registered to vote, when they got their licenses, should be denied the right to possess a drivers license.
Bob, you and I were babies when this took place, but shows patriots in TN who had to do what needed to be done when those in power were criminals!
They fought local government and won. Trying to effect the same coup d’etat against a State would be suicide. Besides, Scott is on our side.
I still contend that it’s going to come to governors calling up their respective state militias, likely mustering at churches or courthouses, to fight against the Feds. It would probably be a no-contest sort of situation when the Pentagon tells Obama that there are a few million armed civilians converging on DC and no support from military boots-on-the-ground for resistance.

Committee to Elect Dan Fanelli
June 2012
Dear Fellow Concerned Citizen,
My name is Daniel R. Fanelli and I have recently announced my candidacy for the position of Orange County Supervisor of Elections. I am a businessman who believes in patriotism and the importance of family. I have served our country faithfully for 20 years as a military veteran. I have been very active in our local community, in my church, and in the Republican Party to serve our community and protect our Constitutional freedoms. Many of my friends and community associates have urged me to run for public office. After careful consideration, I have chosen to run for a not often emphasized, but what is increasingly an extremely important office across our nation: the Supervisor of Elections. Did you know?
· Bill Cowles failed to include Military Absentee Ballots in election results.
· There are over 10,000 fraudulent registered voters in Orange County.* (*per Miami Herald article nearly 200,000 in Florida, est. for O.C.)
· My opponent is a career bureaucrat and career politician.
· Since 1996 when my opponent was elected, a staggering net of over 75,000 more Democrats than Republicans have been registered to the Orange County Voter List from various questionable sources!
A free and honest election process is truly the foundation of our freedoms, and today the election process is being seriously threatened. People across America are concerned about the integrity of that process, as accusations of voter fraud, ballot inconsistencies and intimidation are on the rise. All of our elections will be rendered meaningless and worthless, unless the election process is one where the people have faith and trust that the process is unbiased, and that their vote COUNTS!
Our elections must have those responsible for the election process to be strong enough to protect the integrity of our elections at all cost. We are at a time when “we the people” feel our greatness as a nation is being challenged. We must have the very highest level of trust in the process and in the people that serve in this capacity. I pledge to serve you tirelessly as Orange County Supervisor of Elections with the same honor and integrity as my military service, ensuring that our election process remains fair and unbiased.
Im Dan Fanelli, and Im asking you to join me as we take our nation back at all levels of government. Please go to my website at http://www.ocfordan.com and sign up to donate and/or to volunteer. I need your support, your prayers, and your vote in this important race! Thank you!
May God Bless Orange County, and may God Bless America!
Sincerely,
Daniel R. Fanelli LCDR, USNR-R, US Naval Academy 78

Finish the job and then delete and destroy all the data so some judge can’t order names be restored.
Using the word “purge” is going along with the democrat’s lexicon.
“..Finish the job and then delete and destroy all the data so some judge cant order names be restored...”

“I’ll be back faster than you can say ‘furious’”
Holy moly.
Voting Rights Act, that rings a bell.
The Republican congress under GWB in it's last year 2006 reauthorized the VR Act AS IS to try to get minority votes, of which they got none. Now Holder can use the law to force certain states to let illegals to vote, for Democrats of course.
During the debate over the 2006 extension, some Republican members of Congress objected to renewing the preclearance requirement (the Act's primary enforcement provision), arguing that it represents an overreach of federal power and places unwarranted bureaucratic demands on Southern states that have long since abandoned the discriminatory practices the Act was meant to eradicate.[8] Conservative legislators also opposed requiring states with large Spanish-speaking populations to provide bilingual ballots.[9] Congress nonetheless voted to extend the Act for twenty-five years with its original enforcement provisions left intact.[10]
Voting Rights Act 1965 and 2006
Great move Republicans! Don't get your hopes up if they somehow win this year.
“Finish the job and then delete and destroy all the data so some judge cant order names be restored.”
Abso-damn-luetly right!!!
Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.
