WASHINGTON US President Barack Obama described the lonely decision he made to mount a Navy SEAL raid to kill Osama bin Laden and called the daring escapade the "most important single day" of his tenure.
In an interview to be broadcast later Wednesday, Obama talked about the nerve jangling moments he endured as he watched the operation, the cloak of secrecy that enveloped it and the moment he saw a photo of the dead Al-Qaeda leader.
"I did choose the risk," Obama told NBC News anchor Brian Williams, in the latest episode of a nearly week-long commemoration of the anniversary of the bin Laden killing.

"I think it's wrong to say that I did a high five, because you have a picture of a dead body and, you know, there's I think regardless of who it is, you always have to be sober about death.

What about the day Club Gitmo’ closed?
He gets stranger by the day.
Too bad Obozo isn't really the one who issued the go-ahead for the mission.
Let’s declare a national holiday to celebrate Obama’s greatness...
It’s surreal. You expect this sort of behavior from two-bit third-world dictators, but not from an American President! Disgusting is a word that comes to mind. Ever been to a party where you are embarrassed for somebody who is too ignorant to be embarrassed for themselves?
My gawd, the man must think the decision was comparable to the go ahead for D day or the dropping of the bomb in Japan.
The guy is delusional, the decision was a no brainer any red blooded American 10 year old could have made.
I disagree. His most important day will be when he resigns, when he is arrested or when he is voted out.
Note also that he only talks about Al-Qaeda, not the Taliban. The Taliban ruled in Afghanistan, not Al-Qaeda.
Gee I thought he was going to say the “most important single day” of his tenure was when Larry Sinclair came to see him in the Oval Office. Oh, that wasn’t Larry Sinclair, it was Barney Frank!
Sadly, Brian Williams doesn't have the b@lls to ask Obama, "Mr. President, if it was such an "important single day", why were you playing golf?!
Right.....And he was golfing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gee. The poor lonely man, agonizing all by himself over the decision, deciding against all advice to approve the decision to go after Bin Laden, in spite of the overwhelming public pressure to let him live.
What a brave soul Obama must be.
So why was he out playing golf until dragged kicking and screaming by Leon Panetta into making a decision?
A decision that he promised would backfire on Panetta and McRaven if the mission failed because he would refuse responsibility in such a case.
Seems I remember Ike gave the troops of WWII a command and then went golfing.......yeh right....
Hope the brave young president didn’t pee in his pants.
Well, that’s 1 day out of 3.5 years....
How would he know? He was on the golf course.
This is probably more or less true. It was, after all, the day he let someone who knew what they were doing run the show.
