In a public letter, the influential members of the Anglican Church claimed that Gods grace was at work in allowing same sex couples to marry.
The group, including members of the General Synod, the CoEs governing body, dismissed mistaken impressions that church leaders were universally opposed to an extension of civil marriage.
Instead, they argued that same-sex couples who wanted to embrace marriage should be a cause for rejoicing in the Christian Church.
They wrote: "Recent statements by church leaders past and present may have given the mistaken impression that the Church is universally opposed to the extension of civil marriage to same-sex couples. We believe that does not adequately reflect the range of opinion which exists within the Church of England.
The Church calls marriage holy or sacramental because the covenant relationship of committed, faithful love between the couple reflects the covenanted love and commitment between God and his Church.
Growing in this kind of love means we are growing in the image of God."
They added: That there are same-sex couples who want to embrace marriage should be a cause for rejoicing in the Christian Church.
"We believe that the Church of England has nothing to fear from the introduction of civil marriage for same-sex couples.

I feel very sorry for any actual Christians who still manage to live there.
An abomination. Very sad.
The great whore rises.
The homos rot out and destroy everything they touch.
The nuptial bond between Christ and His Church is covenanted, exclusive, faithful, and fruitful. Of course, the Church of England abandoned the concept of life-giving love long ago, and led most of the rest of Christianity down the same sterile path.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf does not wither. (Ps. 1)
Actually, there are PLENTY of orthodox, devout, biblical Christians in the UK...who are appalled by what these bishops are saying.
As in all of western Europe, Church-goers in general make up something like 3% of the population... Of that 3% probably at least 1/3 are biblical or evangelical, with orthodox beliefs. Unfortunately, with a state church--where politics plays as much a part in who are the bishops as piety...you have the 2/3 bad-apple liberal bishops. You say 1%, that's terrible! Well, that means 600,000 Christians (at least) in the UK who have not "bowed the knee to Baal." That's not an insignificant number...and they need our encouragement and prayer, not our consigning their country to Hell.
So this is why they left the Catholic Church?
I eally think these bishops are misinterpreting the “staff of life” idea.
If it is of Man, it can be treated as the meaningless debris it is
Is it not of Man, then to Whom are they Praying?
Under Who's Authority do they Minister?
If the Bible is not their Durable Source of Wisdom,
on what Sand have they built their Castle?
Show me Anywhere under the Old Law, or the New Law where
Marriage is anything but between a Woman and a Man?
Show me Anywhere under the Old Law, or the New Law where
Sexual Acts between Men are considered anything but Sin?

As Lawful, Good, and to be Commended?
In a public letter, the influential members of the Anglican Church claimed that Gods grace was at work in allowing same sex couples to marry.”
In a letter later made public, an influential member of the first Christian Church, claimed that God’s law forbids sexual immorality, including homosexual acts. That member was Paul and this claim was made in the 10th verse of his first letter to Timothy.
This is not the only statement to this effect. The last book of the Bible has the full title of The Revelation of Jesus Christ and the first sentence of that book says it was “given by God to show to his servants”. The last chapter of that book contains the warning that, while people who obey His commandments will have authority over the Tree of Life and who may enter into the Holy City (a metaphor for eternal life), those who will be outside (or not allowed to enter into eternal life) are “dogs” (the Greek word means homosexuals) and fornicators.
In other words, the warning is consistent: people who practice sexual immorality will not be granted the conditional but free gift of salvation. Jesus said “But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” (Matthew 19:17).
While these passages are frequently cited in response to horribly wrongheaded claims about homosexuality, they also apply to people who may be social and fiscal conservatives, and who may consider themselves to be “Christian”, but who are living with their girl friends without being married.
Perhaps they were referring to some other god.
This is NOT what is meant by the term: Fruits of the Spirit!
lol!
Q - Why are Episcopalians lousy chess players?
A - They can’t tell their Bishops from their Queens.
Apostasy is rampant within the protestant and catholic church.
What better way to disrupt the Lord's work than from within.
Besides, for the liberal media, it is always better for their headline when they quote the progressives within a denomination.
I've been a Christian celebrating within the Anglican tradition for close to 15yrs. The Episcopal church is dying a slow death. Conservatives have left and pulled their funding with them.
The true Anglican church in America is alive and well. Growing and opening new parishes all over the country.
The Islamotopia of Britain will fix up this problem in a few years.
Thanks markomalley.
Apostasy.
And the Church of England is wondering why members are bailing out and becoming Catholics?
Are you Bishops at CoE Headquarters really as dumb as your press releases make you sound or is it worse?
