To hell with the GOP-e. Barring a miracle, they got their big government, unconstitutional mandate loving, socialist abortionist Obama-lite RINO on the ballot, they can now get him elected.
We are the resistance!!
Shove him down our throats today, we shove him up your donkeys in November!!
I can see November from my house!!
“Then why are you crapping on the board?”
I think you’re embarrassing yourself.
“As a Navy Dad, do you believe in defending the right to vote for people we believe in or just the ones you approve of?”
I absolutely approve of your right to vote for Obama. And I do NOT approve of him!
And now you strut around like you are winning.
Yup. Just like playing chess with a pigeon.
And now you strut around like you are winning.
That’s hilarious! There’s not a strut-bone in my body, my friend. If Obama gets re-elected nobody wins.
Who wins if Romney wins? Romney?
“And conservatives are told that they have to be in the role of the person accepting the rancid garbage instead getting what they deserve.”
Feel exactly the same way, DNA.2012!
Well, good night navydad.
I hope you get over your fear of the big bad Obamaman.
Other than being afraid of that puss bag you seem like an OK guy.
The last two nominating contests have led me to believe that Iowa should be stripped of its initial status.
The Iowa voters have now, twice, seriously injured the leading conservative candidates (respectively, Fred Thompson in 2008 and Newt Gingrich in 2012) because they apparently prefer big-government, fiscally liberal Republicans who are the most intensely passionate on social issues.
The result is getting into intra-conservative battles between the most passionate single-sphere social conservatives against the Constitutional Conservatives who are conservative on all spheres and think they are all important. Then because I as a Constitutional Conservative want Fred over tax-hiking Huckabee or Newt over union-kissing Santorum, I get flak from Single Sphere SoCons because I’m supposed to rally around what would best be described as a partial-conservative “with Iowa momentum” when there’s a perfectly good Constitutional conservative to support!? And then *I* get blamed for “splitting the vote” because their weak big-government guy goes down in flames against the RINO and I wouldn’t budge from Newt!?
I want the CONSERVATIVE guy, not the most RELIGIOUS guy. If they’re the same, great! If not, pick the damn CONSERVATIVE!
A deep red Southern state deserves to go first. Then we can choose someone ALL conservatives can support.
No more Iowa first. Rally for it, shake the RNC to its foundation until it loses its status. They’re giving the GOP-E a pathway to fracture us to our core so they can sleaze and buy their way to a hollow victory. No more.
“Who wins if Romney wins?”
I don’t care who wins... as long as his name is not Obama! You got a candidate who will beat Obama? Vote for him!
I would... but some fear mongering guy on FR told me that doing so would elect Obama. If you could impart him with the great wisdom of your most recent statement, I’d appreciate it.
Mike Huckabee was leading going into the Iowa Caucus in 2008. Fred Thompson was never really a viable candidate, though he placed third with about 2/10ths of 1% above McCain if I recall. I agree with you though that Iowa rarely seems to be a bellwether of the actual candidate.
Obama in another term is worse than Romney. If Romney gets in, we can try to have Newt oppose him in 2016.
We didn't get here in one election and we won't get back to where we need to be in one election. Rush calls it, “incrementalism.” It will take decades of strong, methodical push back at all levels of government, every step pushing more conservative. Sadly, Romney looks to be that start.
I agree with your heart on this, though.
Norm, my friend... if trying to keep Obama from getting a second term is “fear mongering” then I guess I’m guilty as charged. Take me out back and shoot me.
Well said! My sentiments exactly!
Do I have that right?
That the lives of our Soldiers will be safer in the hands of a Kenyan communist than an American?
Ronald Reagan must be rolling over in his grave. When will the gop learn?
For the record...
“No matter what follows in that sentence - that is absolute suicide and insanity! Obama will destroy this country so fast with EPA, Health & Human Services, Homeland Security, and other unaccountable czar edicts, unfunded mandates, Presidential signing orders, and new supreme court members, that Congress will be thoroughly castrated and wont know what hit them!”
Suicide, insanity, castration...sure sounds like fearmongering to me.
No one denies he’s the worst president in history. And yes, there’s some truth to your assertions. A lot in fact. But if he were to actually go bug nuts dictator and no one in our government or military stop him, then where exactly is the America you speak of? It will at that point exist as a memory alone.
Now Romney, who states his belief in ‘mandates’, gun control, abortion, gay everything etc...I ask yet AGAIN, id different how?
Before he was elected to the big chair, Obama had nowhere near the list of actual anti-conservative and yes, anti-AMERICAN ‘accomplishments’ than Romney had as Gov. And you think he’s going to be less liberal as president? His anti drilling global warming BS? His anti christian gay/abortion BS? His total lack of foreign policy? How is any of that, and the logical result of such actions any less damaging to America? Don’t keep ducking the questions, answer them if you can.
He hates what we believe ‘is’ America, and his record, through his actions, prove it. If you vote for him, you get what you deserve. Your choice.
Again, I want to make clear that I was a reliable GOP vote all these years. I think I'm what most people would call a very reliable GOP vote, but no more!
Believe me. I agonize over this decision. I won't demonize those who vote (again) for the lesser of two evils and hope they won't demonize me. It's not an easy decision, but I cannot vote for someone like Romney, not even against Obama. That is a Morton's fork dilemma.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morton%27s_fork
I think Romney is only slightly better than Obama, and given Romney's past, he might create a Democrat / moderate Republican coalition against conservatives. They will be able to pass the very things we fear from an Obama administration, an administration that is largely tied up now because an opposing party holds the house.
Romney's nomination means we are effectively disenfranchised, and his promises mean jack squat to me. If he's actually elected, we have no sway over him at all. I will vote down ticket, but no Mitt or Obama for me!
centurion316: “I never thought that Free Republic would help to destroy the country.”
The country is already very thin ice if Mitt Romney is the best the GOPe can offer to oppose President Obama. The GOP is complicit in everything that’s going wrong. Don’t think I’ve forgotten compassionate conservative Bush. We are where we are because of the GOPe and Democrats. I’m not going to beg and scrape for scraps from the GOPe’s table. A pox on both parties!
