Santorum always was setting himself up to be Romney's VP candidate (vanity)

Posted on 03/27/2012 7:40:18 AM PDT by JimWayne

See my old post that I made back in June 2011 before Santorum gained traction and back when Herman Cain and others were still in the race. Now Santorum has himself admitted that he is willing to be Romney's VP candidate.

Those who disagreed with me do not understand politics. Rhetoric about homosexuality and abortion is for garnering votes and meant to divert attention from fiscal issues. The TEA Party was about fiscal issues. If it was about all other issues, the 2010 election would have been no different from previous elections.

Santorum and Romney are both part of the Karl Rove group. While Romney has been groomed to appeal to the voters in the northeast, Santorum has been groomed to appeal to the southern voters. Once in power, they will plunder the country. The Karl Rove group hates the TEA Party and we saw Karl Rove oppose a number of TEA Party candidates in 2010.

Santorum is a fiscal socialist and an Arlen Specter supporter.

A Santorum supporter resorting to Clintonian parsing to defend little Ricky?

I'm shocked! /s

While I may not agree with every single jot and title of your analysis, I do agree with the main premise.

All the Santorum types are ever looking for is a “seat at the table.”

Months ago, when the Tony Perkins-types met in Texas to get behind Santorum, the main topic of conversation, according to Jack Wheeler, was how they could get an angle on making Santorum Romney’s running mate.

It’s so predictable.

And disgusting.

Actually, a Gingrich/Santorum or Santorum/Gingrich ticket would be AWESOME!!!!! I wish they would join to defeat the “inevitable” choice. Together they trounce both Romney and Obama easily.

I agree. I'm no Gingrich fan but could vote for him with minimal pain.

Funny thing is that the things I dislike about him are exactly the things I think would make him an ideal Santorum VP choice. He has the aggression and drive to wield the whip over congress and its doubtless that he would have a great deal of impact in a Santorum administration. Santorum has the diplomatic temperament but is also tougher than we give him credit for. He's already shown toughness in dealing with the media that we all wish George Bush had shown.

If Santorum wins the nomination, we lose to Obama no matter how you try to dress it up. It’ the same scenario of McCain/Palin. Palin attracted strong Conservatives, but lost moderates and Independents.

And McCain lost the Moderates and Indies, becuase the MSM launched a flashy, Vogue, Obama = Greek God theme. Which swooned the Mods and Indies.

The next step in this game would be to get Hannity to say that he does not necessarily endorse everything that Romney says but he thinks that the ticket would be a formidable one. Then Mark Levin would go a bit farther and say that those who oppose the ticket do not understand the dangers of Obama winning a second term and we must all rally behind the ticket. That is how it will play out. Truly disgusting.

Note that I am saying this before the fact. If it plays out this way, then it would prove that Mark Levin is an establishment shill as well and that is how he got a position in the government. If he is a true conservative, he should oppose Romney and Santorum getting on to the same ticket.

When I think about how well they would represent most of our Ideals together I can’t help smiling. You are right, they both offer what each other is missing (does that make sense?). Together, they are the perfect candidate. I would gladly vote for them together no matter the order.

There is simply no way Romney will pick a white male VP. Santorum knows this.

Not even if Romney believes that Santorum will give him a good chance to carry Pennsylvania, one of the big three swing states (Florida and Ohio being the other two)?

Why is this a News/Activism piece? It is purely personal mindless spin and nonsense. BTW, we have another candidate that actually said yesterday he would be Milts VP. He has been saying it all along.

“Newt Gingrich said today he would be willing to be second on a Mitt Romney ticket.”

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/294478/gingrich-sure-id-be-romneys-vp-katrina-trinko

Also your comment that Ricks agenda is just to distract from the real problems in the country is shallow. Some of us, or judging by election results, a lot of us feel that there is a total collapse in the country more than just economic. Just getting the economy on track isn’t going to do one thing to correct the real problems with this country.

Finally, your cheap shot about the Spector endorsement 8 years ago is written as though someone else wasn’t totally blind to the mood of the country 2 years ago and backed a RINO loser named Dede Scozzafava over a Conservative. What can we expect from someone who still believes in man made global warming.

While I would vote for Mr Santorum for President, I will not vote for him as Vice President. This neither helps him nor Romney...
Just say NO to Obama/Romney......

Talk about idiotic, you still think the little authoritarian, newt has a chance.

He is all groomed up to be Mitts running mate.

Oh well, if that doesn’t happen he can alway sell 50 buck photos to suckers in order to keep Calista in jewels.

I don’t think Santorum or Newt are the best candidates, but they both are better than Obama.

As far as the outcome goes, you know Romney is going to win one way or the other.

Whatever, Romney bot.

You know, when you call someone who has strongly and consistently supported Newt a romney bot (how original that), it seems to me that is the same as calling that person a liar. And it seems to me that is a little uncalled for. If you want to call him a liar, it would be better if you expressed your opinions openly and clearly, and say what you mean, so we could know what kind of person you are, rather than hiding behind some spurious euphemism.

To be fair, Gingrich also answered that he would be Romney’s VP if asked.

You appear to be another one of these clowns who really thinks others care what you think.

You shouldn’t waste your time.

“From the standpoint of the conservative movement, consolidating into a Gingrich candidacy would in fact virtually guarantee a victory on Saturday.”

Gingrich then went on to say:

“And I’d be delighted if either Perry or Santorum wanted to do that.”

If that is not calling for Santorum to drop out, it is close enough.

No way! Rick would never have attacked Milt so ferociously if he were angling for VP. Anyway, it will be Rubio. I can’t WAIT to vote for Rick in Pa, as will my wife, mom and dad. Bob

So what? Santorum was crying on every network, “tell him to stop telling me to dropout.”. It was whiny and he can jive the media all he wants, he plays them like a fiddle.

You are not being fair. If asked, any of the candidates would serve as vice-president. It is called serving your country.

If you claim to be a pro-life Conservative, you would not help a pro-abortion, pro-gun grabbing, and pro-gay marriage flip-flopper like Mittens win the election.

I didn't have much of an opinion of Santorum one way or the other - I could vote for him in the general, but I lost a lot of respect for him over his saying he could take the VP slot.

If Santorum is pro-life, he would never EVER help a pro-abortion candidate like Romney, especially being on the same ticket.
