After a day of spin from the White House didn’t tamp down outrage over Barack Obama’s sotto voce conversation with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, the President himself addressed the controversy. Earlier today, Obama insisted that nothing he told Medvedev was out of the ordinary, and that he wasn’t “hiding the ball” on missile defense:
A defensive President Obama said Tuesday he wasnt guilty of hiding the ball when an open microphone caught him pleading with the president of Russia to delay missile shield talks until after this years elections.
The only way I get this stuff done is If Im consulting with the Pentagon, with Congress, if Ive got bipartisan support and frankly, the current environment is not conducive to those kinds of thoughtful consultations, Mr. Obama told reporters at a nuclear security summit here. This is not a matter of hiding the ball. …
I dont think its any surprise that you cant start that a few months before presidential and congressional elections in the United States, and at a time when they just completed elections in Russia, and theyre in the process of a presidential transition where a new presidents going to be coming in, in a little less than two months, Mr. Obama said.
Er — riiight. Here is the transcript once again from the conversation:
President Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but its important for him to give me space.
President Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you
President Obama: This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.
President Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.
“After my election, I have more flexibility.” He’s not talking about Congressional elections. He’s trying to get “space” from Putin, through Medvedev, in order to get himself re-elected. And to get that space — in which Putin would presumably back off of his public comments on missile defense — Obama promised Russia “flexibility” on missile defense once he gets past “my last election,” and the last time voters can hold him accountable for his actions.
The White House continued to spin this as a demonstration of Obama’s commitment to nuclear disarmament and missile defense:
White House aides said the president was still “deeply invested” in the missile defense system.
Uh huh. Here was Obama’s “deep investment” in this 2008 video from his campaign, in which he promised to “end misguided defense policies,” and one of the first topics mentioned is … missile defense:
I will cut investments in unproven missile-defense systems.
So when was Obama “hiding the ball”? Then or now?
Oh, ok... but the "ball" wasn't palatable enough to be discussed openly?
He has more than successfully crossed over from “Socialist idiot” to “dangerous Socialist idiot”. He’s now playing games with our national defense, and this cannot be allowed. Period.
Another one for your list.
This opens up questions about his interactions with other real and potential enemy nations, i.e., what was promised to Iran, Pakistan, China, North Korea, etc.
C’mon, “Mr. Transparency,” let’s hear it!
Of course, I’m not expecting the majority of American voters to have any remote clue of what this is about.
RE: Hes now playing games with our national defense, and this cannot be allowed. Period.
Yet, there are FReepers who claim that there is not one whit of a difference between Romney and this guy, and would rather let this guy cruise in November than vote against him.
No sh*t, Sherlock. The cat is out of the bag now thanks to that hot mic.
What makes you think the "current environment" will be any better for you even in the unlikely event you are re-elected?
He doesn’t have any balls
And he’s set to punch us in ours
At least he wasn’t hiding the salami.
Still waiting for Romney to call him on it.
Crickets.
Yet, there are FReepers who claim that there is not one whit of a difference between Romney and this guy

ozero is being factual and honest here and everybody seems to want to produce some quip or other witty remark.
ozero is confident the election is his because he knows the black Americans for ozero is organized and, I believe, armed and willing to do damage.
ozero knows the media is his and he too could commit murder on the White House lawn and nothing would happen to him.
That guy with the nightstick in Philly was a piker compared to this election.
Look, we've been analyzing this zero for four plus years and we've come to some pretty hard and serious conclusions based on data and fact that indicate, if nothing else, ozero has no intention of leaving our Presidency.
We've heard the school chants, we've seen the boot camps, we've heard his words in speeches, we've seen the emboldenment muslims and blacks exhibit (again, imo) merely because a non-white is the president.
I've become fairly racist over the last few years, something belieing my Bostonian conditioning, and I'm grateful I'm an old fart .. I won't personally feel too much pain and inconvenience because of ozero and his rule ... at least I don't think I will.
Anyway, zero patted that dudes leg on stage and pretty much played golf with him.
Deals are made on the golf course and ozero is well versed in "the deal"
You jinxed the USA as you did the tar heads.

I am no Romney fan and won’t vote for him in the primaries. But I am not going to go that far. THERE *ARE* differences between Obama and Romney and the differences are apparent enough not to sit this one out and allow Obama a second term.
Zero was just pleading with his bosses for more time to get the treason completed.
