For more than six months, worried conservative chieftains talked up the need to unite behind a single rightist candidate in order to block the potential victory of the mushy moderate from Massachusetts, Mitt Romney. Now, on the eve of crucial primaries in Michigan and Arizona, and with Super Tuesday looming just one week later, some of those same leaders speak privately of the need to unite behind that same, once-dreaded Romney in order to avert an even more dire disaster: the nomination of Rick Santorum.

I’m gonna say a little prayer that people really think and VOTE FOR NEWT.
Make it a good one. If the GOP is scared of anyone getting the nomination, it's Newt Gingrich. He'll challenge the status quo whereas Santorum will be run over by the establishment GOP in DC. IMO, Santorum is a weak version of Mike Huckabee.
Newt for VP?
The thing about Newt is that while they might be able to attack him personally, I don’t think that he drags down the rest of the ticket if he loses. Santorum, on the other hand, fills the leftist boogeyman role of religious extremist to a T, and they’ll use that to scare voters.
Im gonna say a little prayer that people really think and VOTE FOR NEWT.

I’m a Newt guy, but he and Rick keep splitting the Conservative vote and Romney keeps winning. Someone is going to have to drop out. IF I LIVED IN MICHIGAN, I’D VOTE FOR SANTORUM JUST TO GET ROMNEY OUT OF THE RACE. A VOTE FOR NEWT IN MICHIGAN TOMORROW IS A VOTE FOR ROMNEY.
VOTE NEWT, to join me.
After reading the article, it’s safe to say that Michael medved REALLY DISLIKES Rick Santorum.
Too bad, I’m still never going to vote for his boy Willard.
Yet, we have polls out today showing Santorum within two points of Obama and ahead in swing states. This after the media has gone on and on about his views on contraception.
Face it, you're fears aren't valid. You just don't like Santorum.
Newt is the only one that came out first on Drill Now. The day after Obama, came out and mocked this Drill now, with Step 1:Drill, Step 2: Drill, Step 3: Keep drilling. Damm right Zero that's what we want.
If Santorum is now talking about this, he copied from NEWT, but alas no one cares for the truth of that matter.
Put your head in gear: VOTE NEWT GINGRICH.
Michigan is NOT a winner take all so a vote for Newt is NOT a vote for Romney. You’re using fuzzy math.
I read, still VOTE NEWT.
Other than amongst political junkies like Freepers, and people in states with primaries, I don't believe Santorum's views are widely known among voters as a whole.
You just don't like Santorum.
Guilty as charged. He lost me with his statement about libertarian conservatives, how the government shouldn't leave people alone. If it came down to him or Romney, I'd write someone in, though I would vote for either of those two before Obama. Fortuantely, though, Newt is still in, and will be getting my vote on the 6th.
Fool me once, shame on you.
You are RIGHT and others need to start listening.
Take it right back at ‘em.
“Do you want to defend late-term abortion?”
“Do you want to defend infanticide?”
“Do you want to defend forcing taxpayers to pay for someone else’s birth control?”
“Do you want to tell us the societal merits of same-sex marriages?”
