This news makes me giddy. Our two front runners have pulled up lame and the pony running with the back of the pack is going to win by default. The last time he raced he lost by 17 laps. I would love to hear substantial issues from him, but he is just thrilled because he raised 3 million in twenty four hours and that someone loves him.
I’m not, and never have been, a “Santorum supporter”.
I kind of “leaned towards” Newt somewhat, but I was never committed to a particular candidate — I realize that the most important goal is to remove Obama, and that whoever “the candidate” is will be but the vehicle with which to achieve that goal.
Having said that, the reason I see Mr. Santorum’s popularity rising as Mr. Romney’s declines is that — like him or not — Rick Santorum actually seems to stand for something, whereas Mitt Romney most obviously stands for nothing in particular....
I like the sound of that.
Newt is in a tough spot relative to going after Santorum too. He is danged if he does, danged if he doesn't. My preference is for Newt to go after Santorum in the near future, regardless of what Mitt does.
.
King of the Hill is a children’s game, the object of which is to stay on top of a large hill or pile [while] other players attempt to knock the current King off the pile and take their place...Ordinarily pushing is the most common way of removing the king from the hill, but there are significantly rougher variations where punching or kicking is allowed (Wiki)
Bachman,,Perry, Cain, Gingrich, Romney have all led the pollsCan Rick now stay on top? If he can, he deserves the nomination.
My problem was early on the non-Romney candidates didn’t doggie pile on Willard and at least try to take him down a notch. Which would have left a more conservative field to choose from.
Shoulda coulda woulda I suppose.
I will totally support $$$ Gingrich or Santorum. Whichever has the momentum going into Super Tuesday.
..more of the same....
And in a darkened room, Ann Coulter is sobbing, clutching her Mitt Romney photo. Evidently, so is Roger Ailes.
“They don’t love you like I do, Mitt! Somewhere, there’s a planet for us with a white picket fence. Dump your wife, though.”
Also with two stomachable conservatives in the race it is harder for Mitt and the main streamers to concentrate their fire.
Lesson for Rick:
If you go negative, you will drop like a rock.
Santorum:
"The rights within our Constitution, they are not unlimited rights. There is and can be limitations on them...There are limitations to all freedoms. There are not absolute rights."
And he's no Ronald Reagan....
Santorum:
Reagan:
You Rick'sters have really screwed it up for all of us.
Holy CRAP!!!!! What great news to wake up to today. I think that Rick really has a chance. Apparently, I was right about the power of Santorum’s message. I am truly excited that he really has a chance to WIN!!!!! Bob
The way this is going Paul will have the next surge.
After a few months there will be a republican convention. Where they will decide to elect Rick Perry as their nominee.
I support Newt Gingrich and think he will be stronger against 0bama, but if Santorum continues to pull ahead I will have little problem supporting him for the nominee. The important thing is to defeat Obama and to prevent Romney from destroying the conservative movement and the Republican Party (which he will if he is the nominee). I do feel that Santorum will have a harder time winning the general than Newt, but he can still win and I do trust that he will make decent appointments to the Supreme Court.
Where are the comments now that Santorum is in the race because he’s there to be spoiler for Romney, is working for Romney, is expecting to be Romney’s VP, etc?
Where are the comments that Newt should drop out because he his splitting the vote? That’s what we Santorum supporters always got when Rick was behind in the polls.
1. I’m a long-time Santorum supporter. I’ve had his bumper sticker on my car since last summer. For me, he’s not simply “the last man standing”. He’s my first choice. I’m very happy to see these results.
2. In the heat of a primary, we sometimes forget who is on our side. In spite of the comments that are typical and necessary during a campaign, Newt and Rick are on the same side (as are Rick Perry, Michele, Herman, Tim P., and many others). I even appreciate Ron Paul’s stands in Congress—although I have obvious reservations about him in some areas. As for Mitt, I don’t want to be too cruel, but I see him as the enemy—the embedded liberal within the Party that intends to take us where we don’t want to go and don’t need to go.
3. There are a few anti-Santorum posters who post repeatedly and tend to dominate the conversation. I think, though, that most people in the Newt camp are not that way. The polls also indicate that Santorum has more support than his detractors would want to admit. The half-dozen or so posters (out of hundreds of posters) who have obviously lost it are almost funny to watch—but sadly pathetic, too.
4. Go Rick!!
