If no current GOP Presidential candidate garners more than 50% of delegates during the primary, Republican delegates can have the opportunity to vote for anyone they wish, whether or not they are currently a candidate. This is called a brokered convention
If you were a delegate, would you prefer one of the current candidates or consider somebody currently not in the race?
To make this more intriguing, we paired off potential and current candidates like a sports tournament pairing - choose one person per each match up for each round.
Round 1.
Jeb Bush vs Bobby Jindal -----|
Newt Gingrich vs Paul Ryan -----|
Sarah Palin vs Marco Rubio ----|
Rick Santorum vs Jim Demint ----|
Ron Paul vs Chris Christie ----|
Mitt Romney vs Mitch Daniels ----|
"Other" vs Mike Huckabee -----|
John Thune vs Bob McDonnell ----|
Can we wait until my head stops spinning from the Primary, until I can make such a decision?
Dumb post since those match-ups will never happen. It just doesn’t work that way. You’be been watching too much sports, not politics.
I’ll play:
Jeb Bush vs Bobby Jindal -——| Bush because he is eligible
Newt Gingrich vs Paul Ryan -——|Gingrich
Sarah Palin vs Marco Rubio ——| Palin because she is eligible
Rick Santorum vs Jim Demint ——|Demint
Ron Paul vs Chris Christie ——| Christie
Mitt Romney vs Mitch Daniels ——|Daniels
“Other” vs Mike Huckabee -——| Huck
John Thune vs Bob McDonnell ——| Thune
For your information I didn’t write this and I most certainly know how a brokered convention works...I believe the writer wanted more of a discussion about the candidates vs candidates instead of just picking an candidates...sheesh! geezer?
I prefer Bobby Jindal to all the rest
First things first.
Get your as*es out there and active in your local country Republican organization NOW. Get yourself elected a delegate for the your states spring convention - really MUCH EASIER than you might think.
Start saving up money and time to go to the National Convention. Often, the deciding factor in who goes to that is who has the money and time to part with.
If we aren’t ready and willing to do this, you can bet your boots the Establishment will fill the delegate seats -
And forget your silly ‘other names’ - Stick with who we HAVE - NEWT - otherwise, you’ll be giving it to the enemy, hands down.
Bush is probably one of the best candidates as far as his attributes and abilities go, but he will NEVER rise to that level because of the family dynasty negative. There are people who are quietly doing real hard conservative work and are flying under the radar. Watch Utah rep. Jason E. Chaffetz and Senator Mike Lee. These guys have it all and are likely to be major figures in the future, I think.
Who are "we"? You and the Unabomber?
Yes.
Round 1-
Jeb vs. Bobby J. > Bobby J.
Newt vs. Paul R. > Paul R.
Sarah vs. Marco > Sarah
Rick S. vs. Jim D. > Jim D.
Ron Paul vs. Chris C. > Chris C.
Mitt vs. Mitch > Mitch
Other vs. Huck > Other
John T. vs. Bob M. > Bob M.
___________________________________________
Round 2 -
Bobby J. vs. Paul R. > Paul R.
Sarah vs. Jim D. > Sarah (Hard Choice)
Chris C. vs. Mitch > Mitch
Other vs. Bob M. > Bob M.
____________________________________________________
Round 3 -
Paul R. vs. Sarah > Sarah (Hard Choice)
Mitch D. vs. Bob M. > Bob M.
____________________________________________________
Final -
Sarah vs. Bob M. > Sarah (Easy Choice)
My top three choices are Sarah, Jim DeMint, and Paul Ryan but the brackets knocked the latter two out early.
If Romney is chosen in a brokered convention, the political class will be smaller, more exclusive and more hated by most of America indeed, from then on. Vanity...
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Newt. If I am a birther concerning Obama, then I must also demand a NBC clearing of Jindal and Rubio before I consider them.
I have had enough Bush’s to last me a lifetime.
Gingrich is the one I go with.
Ryan is a good second best, but he hasn’t withstood the fire a Presidential candidate will have to endure yet.
Round 1.
Jeb Bush vs Bobby Jindal -——| Jindal
Newt Gingrich vs Paul Ryan -——| Ryan
Sarah Palin vs Marco Rubio ——| Palin
Rick Santorum vs Jim Demint ——| Demint
Ron Paul vs Chris Christie ——| Christie
Mitt Romney vs Mitch Daniels ——| Romney
“Other” vs Mike Huckabee -——| Other
John Thune vs Bob McDonnell ——| McDonnell
Why didn't you credit the real author?
Oh and word is that Palin isn't running for President; unless she was lying at the press conference where she stated she wasn't running.
I am still back in the age of "I say there, I say there, Tennessee casts its votes for Estes Kefauver." Personally, with the endorsement of Mitt from Trump it is over.
I hope not. I'm a Nut (Newt) fan.
I say, I say, it is way too early. That Alaskan thing might still ride in with a white hat and try for it.
