Over the weekend, the Catholic Churchs letter went beyond simply issuing oppositional rhetoric to media. Instead, priests read an open note to congregations across the country, dubbing the administrations take on womens health and religious violations as an attack on their faith. In the letter, Bishops highlighted what they called an alarming and serious matter, as their words contended that the federal government has dealt a heavy blow to the Catholic population.

If any Freeper wishes to contact their Archbishop, remember:
Addressing a letter: Most Reverend N______N ____,Archbishop
of ___________
Salutation: Your Excellency:
Concluding a letter: Asking Your Excellency’s blessing, I am, Yours respectfully in Christ, N.
Even among the bishops, if Obama paints the election as between helping the poor and being nice to illegal aliens (himself) and helping the rich and being mean to illegals (the Republicans), he could get a lot of their votes despite this issue.
In my parish the bishop's letter (almost identical to the one from the Bishop of Phoenix posted here a couple of days ago) was included as an insert in the bulletin, and part of the sermon was about it, although it wasn't read out in its entirety. Maybe the assumption was that we can read.
The Church will not do what it regards as killing. That is nether hard to understand nor hard to accept.
Thou out American history it has always been perfectly acceptable. Only totalitarians like Obama have a problem with that.
I am a Catholic and BO didn’t get my vote nor will he ever get my vote. I consider him Mr. Evil. I do have Catholic friends who were sucked in and voted for him. I think regular Catholics are going to have to make a decision on just who they are going to follow the Catholic church or BO and his evil liberal liars.
Don’t for one minute rely on all Catholics to vote Republican or pro-life. My MIL has regularly endorsed Democrats, laughs at gays, even advised her daughter to go on the Pill. Voted for Obama and concvinced all of her crony friends to do the same.
Liberal Catholics are all around us — and they could care less about what the Church says about anything. Oh, but they go to Mass, every week, sometimes daily.
We’ve tried to have conversations with her about her voting habits ... she is convinced Republicans are entirely evil ...even though we tell her all about abortion, Planned Parenthood, etc.
SOMEONE did a number of these types of people a long time ago ... they don’t even think straight.
Doesn’t anyone see what this is? Its not an attack on religion. If the Catholic Church disagrees with the mandated policy and no longer provides medical coverage to its employees, where will the employees be forced to go for coverage? Why the federal gov’t, of course!
Unfortunately, this train left the station 40 years ago, and the Catholic bishops and the entire Protestant “church” missed it. Now they are trying to rally an army that no longer exists.

I am sorry that you ended up with ole Hank, but I was thrilled to see him removed from my old stomping grounds. He has got to be getting close to retirement isn't he.
Of course now here in Va I am stuck with DeLorenzo who is almost as bad.
Now they need to go further and explicitly tell the congregation not to vote for this murderous B@$T@RD.
How many divisions does the Pope have?
What hypocrites, are they so blind that they would go against their church's principle values in order to elect the "evil emperor?"
Wonder what will happen if we have no choice in the next election. Romney is a pro-choicer. I'm about to write the Republic National Committee and tell them that if Romney runs against Obama, I can not in good conscience vote for him. If all the Catholics in this country wrote the RNC, do you think they would get the message? Or, are they so arrogant that it will make no difference.
" . . . Catholics are going to have to make a decision on just who they are going to follow the Catholic church or BO and his evil liberal liars."from cumbo78 in #27:
Cumbo78 hit the nail on the head as far as the goal of the policy, but the point Maryhere makes is the the real reason we're hearing about this and having it come to the fore so early in the election season. They could easily have gone about this differently, and if they had been working hard political calculus they would have gone about it differently.
Announcing this before the election doesn't gain them a thing among their non-Catholic supporters and is sure to cost them votes in the election as well as probably costing them some number of workers during the campaign. However, we're dealing with a narcissist who will gloat over each and every Catholic who publicly supports him, every single percentage point of Catholic support any survey shows him retaining, and every single Catholic vote he gets on election day even if that is millions fewer votes than he got in 2008. While a politician would have made sure this wasn't out until after the election even to the point of having it officially "still under consideration" in case anyone found out about it before the election, a narcissist wants to make it clear to Catholics that they have to decide between him and the Pope.
Barry is a narcissist who dwells in his own world and is dedicated to his own radical agenda, an agenda shaped in part by twenty years of anti-American, anti-Jewish, and anti-Catholic hatred spewed by Rev. Wright each and every Sunday. Accordingly, Barry believes that by having the Catholic Church directly confronting him the Catholic votes he loses will be more than offset by the anti-Catholic votes he gains. Remember, Barry believes the ignorant Christians are clinging to their God and their guns, which fits right in with those same folks also clinging either to the Pope or to the "anti-Papist" sermons they must hear frequently at their Church. The main thing, though, is that Barry wants to gloat over how many Catholics listen to him rather than the Pope. It feeds his ego and helps keep his opinion that he is Christ like well inflated.
It's also a pretty good indication that there isn't anyone around him puts pragmatism ahead of of their socialist agenda.
It's predictable. It's what narcissists do, put what feeds their ego and strengthens the bubble they live in ahead of all else.
JMHO
Sadly, the letter wasn’t read in my church either.
Maybe our best bet is to write a letter to our bishops respectfully asking if it will eventually be read in our diocese.
Are you counting voters? The Vatican can probably muster quite a few if the Kenyan wants a fight.
People clap in my church, I hate it, it just seems so undignified.
