Do you ever question that anybody who joined FR after 1999 is capable of independent thought?
It has gotten to the point it's laughable!...or I'm laughing to keep from crying?

A philosophical question to ponder while you’re writing off all us newbies:
If giotto agrees with you, are either of you still thinking independently?
Hmm.

See my #281, newbie.
You are just regurgitating the groupthink. This was once a site for exchange of opinions and debate.
Then, too many people like you came along!

If you're so miserable, why don't you just leave? If your finger hurts, stop hitting it with a hammer. It's not rocket science.

Not ditching Drudge. Newt DOES suck, only not as bad as Romney does. The entire Republican field leaves a lot to be desired. Its almost as if the Republicans want 0bama to be re-elected.
Thankyou..... Someone else with the voice of reason.

If you're so miserable, why don't you just leave?Because I'm a fighter, not a quitter!
Ironically, I was a crucified Perry/Newt supporter BEFORE it was popular to support either on FR. Then Perry quit and endorsed Newt.
Now Newt is the favored candidate.
Since I was there 2 or 3 months before it was popular, I think proves I'm not a groupthinker.
FWIW, I've been here 14 years on Feb. 6 and I need no lectures from you...groupie!

There is a faction here at FR who are nothing but a bunch of lemmings. Outside of our founder, I can't think of a member here who has done more for the conservative movement than him. People calling him and Limbaugh traitors is just sickening.
I just hope JR can contact Matt and smooth things over.

If giotto agrees with you, are either of you still thinking independently? Both of us are thinking independently because we never heard of each other before this a.m.
It's same with Rush...I'm not a dittohead...The first time I heard him I thought, "FINALLY! Here's somebody who thinks like me!"
I got there a long time before I ever heard of Rush Limbaugh!!!
I'm not a groupie...that's why I don't mind different opinions but can't stand regurgitating "talking points."

I listened to Rush both Thursday and Friday.
Thursday he was a sailboat in the storm. Either he’s the best actor I’ve listened to, or he was genuinely perplexed by the deluge of anti-Newt stories that day.
He did notably, explain why he was defaulting toward not challenging the stories, by placing the entire reason on his own belief in the perceived impeccable credibility of Elliot Abrams.
Rush was not in attack mode while the RINO establishment was. He was being careful, though sympathetic to the Mitt side.

Friday I made a point of listening again - and Rush started his show, with extensive coverage of subsequent information (since his Thursday show) that the very same Elliot Abrams had based his criticisms of Gingrich - on incorrect quotes.
At times, Rush almost sounded like he would defend Newt, but in the end he did not. I did however come away with the impression the events of the two days, had moved him slightly toward Newt.
Far cry however, from what Drudge did.
Sure in one way, we’re all on the same side. Gingrich. Rush. FR. Even Romney.
But we’re not in “let’s all get along” season.
It’s primary season. We’re in a fight. Drudge just put on an opposing jersey.
His mistake.
Pick a lane.
We can all hug later. After we beat them.

Very Good post. It is just too bad the parties have long forgotten Reagan’s 11th commandmant.

Times of rebellion are when Free Republic is at it's best, and the cream rises to a very enlightening and revealing level.FR was "at its best" when Tony Snow and Barbara Olsen hung out and posted here.
Can you imagine people like them wasting their time reading the drivel...more like playground fighting... that's posted here these days?
FR was "at its best" before you came along so you don't have a clue what you're opining about!

Funny how you go on whining about group think (as you understand it anyway), when this not a republican, or news, or political website. It is a conservative website, a "premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America".
I would certainly HOPE there is some level of group think here. It's the point of the place. You're poorly understood idea of independent thought is revealing.

LOL! I bow in reverence.
You have to admit that it was more fun back then and a lot more interesting.
Or, was I too young (relatively speaking!) and immature to notice?

Different screen names, different front-burner politicians' names; same rough-and-tumble threads. Same food fights.
