Due to bias shown by Matt Drudge I pledge to boycott the Drudge Report. Please pledge the same if you feel so inclined.
The FreeRepublic link is no longer on the Drudge site.
120 replies this fast on Friday night. Matt seemed to have hit a nerve.
My name is Pack29172 and I am addicted to Drudge. I have made the conscious decision to move on. I have eliminated the bookmark. I know I have help available here on FR! Man, ‘O Man does it feel good to break away. Must now work to resist.
No, you didn’t hit a nerve. People need to fight back when they have been betrayed by lies... that is what Drudge did. I openly support Newt, but it would have been just as bad had it been done to Santorum... how do you think the dems have cowed so many people on our side into silence or PC speak, because there is an understanding that they will do whatever they have to do, in small situations or large, to make sure the other side is aware they are strong, and you better think before you speak negatively about them, because they will find a way to make you pay. That is what we need... People to fear conservative clout. It will start in little bits and grow. Welcome to the first couple bites of fighting back... no matter who or what.. you are military? how do you feel about clout? we have to grow it..
I’ve not been paying attention. Just exactly what did Drudge do?
He doesn’t write anything, just links to other’s work.
Drudge gets 30 million hits daily —more than the daily traffic of every major US daily, combined.
DC political consultants all check his page 10 times or more daily —because his simple act of linking to a story ASSURES that the story WILL be talked about, it WILL become the “real” news, even if it wasn’t.
The ONE man driving news in the USA is Matt Drudge, a former gift-shop clerk, a man who never went to college.
I’ve had many disagreements with his coverage —and recently a major chronic one— but:
THE MAN GAVE US A SHOT —maaaaany dedicated freeps found FR via his link.
Do you all think that WE haven’t done stuff that has sometimes embarrassed him? Yes, there has been stuff like that, over the years, and at several junctures he’s been taken to task over his willing association with us (a couple times we were even un-linked).
But he hasn’t shunned us, and he’s provided really great material.
Did you know Drudge came in person to the FreeRepublic March for Justice?
That was when Clinton and his goons were seriously talking about us as terrorists...! But still Matt showed up..!
The man has GUTS.
It’s OK to disagree with him —he would understand that. He would understand even if there were HUGE disagreements.
But BOYCOTTING him? Oh, please.
Besides with the MSM being what it is, you’ll all be back licking up his material in a week...
Really? Won’t go to confirm though.
Can’t do it since I haven’t looked at the Drudge Report since April, 1998.
I don't suppose there is any way to check how long he keeps those stories up? I know for sure the day he did break on that was posted on FR it was gone entirely within a half hour.
He linked to the wrong work.
I’m not that strong. I can’t even avoid cookies. I know me. I’ll try. But then I have to click 5x as much to get the news.
competitor?
It was there last night, but not now.
How long have you worked for Drudge?
How long were they up? Is there a second place to search?
I’ve stayed away from Drudge for years - no intention of visiting now.
“I am already two days into it.”

Deleted Drudge from “favorites” two days ago. Will never go back.
He did post Rick’s nerdy pics.
I am not at all happy about it. That’s a hugely popular website and having the Free Republic link there was a good thing to help attract people to this forum.
You are missing the point. If everybody on Free Republic and their friends and family boycotted, we couldn’t and shouldn’t shut down Drudge. The point is gaining a little respect, a little show of power that will make Drudge think twice next time before he posts dirt on conservatives. It is a message, not an eviction notice. He needs to get that message, and so do lots of others in the conservative media and establishment, who take tea party types for granted because they think we have nowhere else to go, or they think we are all rubes...
