CNN Iowa poll: Romney 25, Paul 22, Santorum 16, Gingrich 14

You know who this benefits?

*snip*

So there’s the long-awaited Santorum surge among social cons, who are finally giving him a first look at the perfect moment after flirtations this fall with Bachmann, Perry, Cain, and Gingrich. Two caveats, though, one minor and one major. The minor: PPP’s poll published this morning found Santorum stuck at 10 percent, still behind Gingrich and Bachmann. Are their numbers the outlier or are CNN’s? The major: According to the crosstabs, CNN only polled … registered Republicans in Iowa. That means they’re badly underestimating support for Paul, who’s cleaning up among Democrats and independents who are planning to vote in the caucuses.

Obviously, you do not share those views.

Don't speak for me. You're not smart enough.

That still remains a possibility.

However, if this poll is accurate and Santorum has surged, even finishing third could make him a real player for the nomination.

I'll admit that back in September I wasn't even looking at Santorum. But, given the current candidates (with apologies to Perry and Gingrich supporters), Santorum’s Conservative credentials are second to none.

Given that he also articulates Conservative values quite well (as compared to Perry) and he doesn't have any real baggage (like Gingrich), what's not to like? All he's been lacking is traction and money. A strong showing in Iowa will fix that, and also put him in the spotlight on a National level, bringing with it the slings and arrows from the media. Should we get to that point, we will see if he is as good a campaigner as he claims to be.

This will help nominate Romney. Split the vote, and he will be the nominee. Period. Seen this one before, and the conservatives live on just long enough to split the South Carolina vote, and let Mitt in. We never learn.

The Ron Oaul voters have been Outed as Democrats who took advantage if the weak IA.

Yea, 'democrats' who want to abolish the IRS and cut 1 trillion in spending and abolish 5 cabinent agencies and cut foreign aid to zero? i don't know how you get more conservative than that, unless 'conservative' means something else nowadays.

I’d be very happy with a Santorum presidency!

Newt is better able to humiliate the MSM and Zero but Santorum seems like a great conservative choice.

Each election cycle we repeat the same mistakes. Of course Iowa is important, why would so much money be going there. We are just silly enough to read something into Iowa which affects N.H. which in turn makes a difference in South Carolina. I will not vote for Mitt, he is no better than Obama. There I said it.

So you share those views, yet are voting for someone who does not. Got it.

"The Ron Oaul voters have been Outed as Democrats who took advantage if the weak IA"

The one problem with that theory is the results of the poll posted here. This is a poll of only registered Republicans and Ron Paul comes in a close second. If you add Democrats and independents to the mix, he is in the lead, as indicated in other polls that take such voters into account. The numbers show that Ron Paul's support consists of a diverse coalition of Democrats, independents and Republicans. IOW, whatever one may think of Ron Paul, the coalition of supporters backing him is far more diverse than such narrow stereotypes.

In addition, Ron Paul is polling 2nd in Iowa among Evangelicals:

Most of Santorum’s gains have come among likely caucus participants who are born-again or evangelical, and he now tops the list among that crucial voting bloc, with support from 22% of born-agains compared to 18% for Paul, 16% for Romney, and 14% for Gingrich,

Your sick. I truly believe you are a liberal. Santorum is the most conservative of all of them and you are bashing him. You continue to want your liberal Romney and Newt and I pray every day that you do NOT get your wish.

I AM SO G******D SICK OF STUPID IOWA!

You've got tenure and seniority over me so I'll respect any harsh remarks that you may see fit to fling my way. That said, may I humbly and with all due respect ask that you not take the Lord's name in vain. I'm not a prude and I really don't mind some mild cussing but would prefer that the name of Almighty God is used in such a manner. That kind of foul language is best left to the Jeremiah Wrights of the world.

Thank you very kindly.

Sincerely and as a Christian FRiend.
