Yes, the Air Force does screen its pilots for mental defect. If they have one—or more, they are qualified to fly.

I’m not sure that discharging servicemen for being rude is in our national best interests.

Mental illness is about self disclosure. You can’t diagnose it. They guy was probably just a dick.

This has to be the dumbest vanity I have ever read.
Congratulations on filling up FR bandwidth with useless drivel!

So.... this officer expressed their opinion that smokers smell like smoke. And somehow this offends you. Guess what, you have the right to be offended, just as the officer has the right to express their opinion.

I don’t give a care if he is rude to his barber. I care if he will go into harms way and rudely bomb our enemies.

Dude, you smoke and he hurt your feelings. Sounds to me like he isn’t one of the usual PC officers I see so much of around the base. He doesn’t like the smell of smoke on a persons breath who is in his face cutting his hair. Who does?
With that said most flyers are a-holes in my experience. Doesn’t mean they have mental problems.

This pissy officer explains, barbers smoke and he can't stand the smell of tobacco smoke on their breath as they cut his hair. That sounds like another Air Farce prima-donna. Occifers can be like that, y'know.
But, he can smell and enjoy the scent of JP-4.
Did he say that? They should use JP-8 now.........

I’d rather smell JP-4 than the stench of a cigarette on someone’s breath six inches from my face.

This flying officer needs to be identified and removed from flying status . . . or removed from training and discharged.
One of the most ignorant and preposterous posts I've ever read on FR.

Your vanity is silly, much more so than the “zipper” was.
I was an officer in aircraft maintenance...your arguments are invalid, and may God have mercy on you.

Yes they are screened. Not sure why you think not liking tobacco smoke breath is a mental defect though. Different people find different odors offensive. I would not have a stylist who wore perfume that bothered me either. I see no reason to be uncomfortable while I receive a service I am paying quite handsomely for.
Or do you oppose freedom of association?
