Investigators Say Incident Happened During Delta Flight
BOSTON -- Massachusetts State Police arrested an airline passenger at Boston Logan International Airport after officers said he watched child pornography while onboard a plane.
Officials said the incident happened about 2:53 p.m. Saturday during a Delta Airlines flight from Utah to Boston.
Troopers said other passengers took a cellphone photo of 47-year-old Grant Smith, of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, watched the video.
Investigators said Smith was seat in the first class section at the time and another passenger alerted the flight crew to the incident.
Officials said Smith was interviewed by troopers when the flight landed in Boston at 4:12 p.m. Smith was arrested shortly thereafter and charged with possession of child pornography.
Troopers said Smith is being held at the Logan Airport Barracks and his bail is set at $15,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned at East Boston District Court on Monday.
Police said more charges may follow.

Either he’s very dim witted or very bold to do this on an airplane. What a horrible flight for the passengers who witnessed it. Ugh!

What does money have to do with intelligence or morality?
Many folks ride up front on a coach ticket, I frequently* get upgraded just because I fly a lot.
That being said, criminals are usually pretty dimwitted.

It would not have taken much effort if he’d really wanted privacy; a window seat at the back of First Class (with a bulkhead behind) would do for a position in which nobody else could see the screen of the laptop or video player. I’m thinking he may have also been liquored up and not reasoning very clearly.
I think that all passenger aircraft need to be designed with ejection chutes.
I am sure there were a number of fathers on this aircraft who would have loved to escort this scumbag a flying lesson.
Yeah, I know, he might land somewhere inconvenient, but the pilot would probably know when to open the outer door. Maybe wait until over a body of water or some such.
Reminds me of the phrase, “Suicide by cop.” Was this someone who *wanted* to be arrested? Mebbe so.
Looking at child porn would make this part of your assumption true, as to being liquored up ... that is open to conjecture. LOL!
