I periodically write and regularly broadcast about male-female issues because I want to help men and women, especially husbands and wives, get along better. But I have developed a secondary reason: to elicit left-wing reactions. They reveal an enormous amount about how the left thinks. For example, one of the biggest left-wing websites (Daily Kos) wrote that "Dennis Prager advocates marital rape." Why? Because I wrote a column in which I suggested that if a woman loves her husband, and if he is a loving and good man, she might not want to be guided solely by "mood" in deciding whether and when to have sex with him. And just a few weeks ago, the same website declared me a misogynist for my column on what I believe to have been four negative legacies of feminism for women. I actually wrote the column on behalf of women, yet I was labeled a misogynist. Why? Because I suggested that feminist pressure on women to emphasize career over finding a husband, career over marriage and career over child rearing has not been good for most women or for society. That means, according to the Daily Kos writer, that "basically Prager is upset with contemporary women because they seek a life beyond being confined to domestic space and swapping their brains for a mop." To suggest that children benefit from having a full-time parent — which will usually be the mother — is, in the eyes of the dominant intellectual culture, equivalent to advocating suppression of women and "swapping their brains for a mop." The left views full-time homemakers as individuals who, because of patriarchy and other nefarious forces, have abandoned their minds to the lowest intellectual activity the human being can engage in: homemaking.

In 25 years of work at various jobs, and interactions with dozens of different businesses during that time at all levels, I can count on one hand the people, male or female, who thought of their job as the dreamy, naive, “dream job” the left portrays the “reason-to-get-out-of-the-house” “careers” that young women are encouraged to prioritize ahead of their family. It’s only after young men and women get used to - and then addicted to - the idea of working and having spending money which enables them to hang in bars, buy cars and clothes and go on vacations, that they realize that their “career” is a job and they really don’t like it. By the time they “wake up” and realize this, they have bills to pay and are locked into working. This makes them want to shop and hang in bars all the more and all the less capable and interested in starting a family and having a hospitable home. Home and family is boring work for which one does not get paid to many people today, so they minimize the work and generally do a very poor job at it. IMHO.

This is way too true.
I know I woke up to the lie that a “job is a career”, and that it really didn’t satisfy me at all. That was when I knew I wanted to be a stay at home mom, in the 80’s.
And I am very glad I did. I stayed home, and homeschooled our daughter. But it wasn’t without it’s “opposition”. Even my dad thought that I should “work the first year of being married” because, his second wife was working, and she was jealous I wasn’t! Ha, that would have been a trap, and I am glad I stuck to my guns.
Stay home, be with your children, and homeschool them!!
It is worth it, very day, very year, for the rest of your life.
And just who raised those on the left who are denigrating full time motherhood? Did their Mamas stay home and raise them, but bitch and moan their whole lives? Or were their Mamas career women who didn't think child rearing that important? Either one of those two options are possible, but it could also be that these folks just got brainwashed by the 'grievance studies' classes they took in college, and they certainly don't want to appear unsophisticated by disagreeing with those august professors.
I loved being a stay at home Mom, and I had that luxury, because when we married, hubby and I made a deal; I'd work until the first one was born, then I'd stay home and my career would be as the first teacher, chief cook, taxi driver, class Mom, school volunteer, etc. Some of my friends didn't have that opportunity to be home full time, but they did the best they could.
Each family has to choose its own way, and I don't think any of them should be made to feel less of a family, or guilty, whether Mom is working only at home, or has that job and another one for which she receives wages.
I'm not the one who posted a thread a third time.
It's a fact, I pointed it out.

What seems to be the problem with the listing of duplicate threads?
My mind was kept sharp by our four kids constant 'negotiations'. The oldest one was so good at arguing his point, but always respectfully, we told him he ought to be a lawyer. That's what he did, and as we thought he would be, is pretty good at it!
We had interesting discussions with the kids as they were growing up; still do, when they're home from college, or just visiting, so they're pretty sharp, and know how to take apart an argument when it comes to their friends trying to convince them of the latest popular notions.

Alright, you appear unable to grasp the concept.
Search was not used, threads were duplicated.
