Bill Maher may be anti-religion, but he's got faith in one thing: Herman Cain won't be the the 2012 Republican Presidential nominee.
Maher bet CNBC correspondent Michele Caruso-Cabrera $1 million that Cain won't earn the GOP nomination, and shook hands on the wager during Friday night's taping of his HBO political comedy show Real Time with Bill Maher.
Caruso-Cabrera was arguing that Cain's "incredible likeability factor" could carry him all the way when, Maher snarked back that he'd put a million dollars down against her one dollar that Cain won't win the nomination because Republicans can't deal with a non-white candidate.

But it you have just reduced the milk producers tax burden by 20% don’t you think he would pass on some of his savings to you? Say he keeps 5% of his tax savings and passes the rest to his customers to build up sales that means that now instead of having to sell a gallon of milk for $3.99 he can sell at $3.39 and still keep 5% of his tax savings.
I'm almost 64. I usually don't buy big-ticket items. Food and gas (I live in the boonies) are my 'big-ticket' items each month. I was under the impression that everything, including food, would be taxed. That would hurt me.
In all honesty, no I don't. I think he'll pocket his savings.
And hurt his sells? That won’t last long of one thing the retailer will squeeze him for it to increase their sells and secondly say Acme Milk doesn’t pass it on then Ajax milk does, Who’s milk are you going to buy? And what does Acme have to do to keep their market share?
Correct. It will be because the fix in in for Rommy. There are three groups that want Rommy:1. The Establishment ERepublicans.2. The main stream media. 3. the Dmocrat Party.
“If you support someone else, fine. Make your case.
But to spew delusions is not helping your cause.”
Okay, but there is nothing but fact in what I’m saying, no “delusions” so I’ll take the time to “make my case” as you ask. because I know you are a good conservative and not a hothead like an idiot on this thread I wouldn’t waste my time with.
“Cains mentor is Alan Greenspan.”
In the New Hampshire debate, Cain spoke approvingly of Greenspan and Greenspan’s policies, which are and were his own policies. He made absolutely no recognition of the role the Fed, and Cain’s own role, had in getting this country into the position of a debtor nation. If Greenspan is not a mentor to Cain, at the very least Cain is in complete denial about what he has contributed to getting us in this mess. And he wants the top job to try to get us out of the mess he helped put us in? I don’t think so!
Cain is part and parcel of the system that got us into the fix we are in.
See above. Cain is a product of, supporter of, and beneficiary of the CORRUPTED system of “capitalism” that bears little resemblance to a true free-market system - the managerial society, if you will, that has brought this country to the brink.
“Cain is old.”
What’s to argue about that? If Cain becomes president, he would be the second-oldest president ever to be inaugurated. That is a fact. The problem with that is he is bound by his own life experience and that generational experience and outlook is wahat has bought us to this disaster.
“Cain helped get us into the current nightmare.”
Again, see above. If you can’t see that this country is in major trouble and evolving, make that evolved, into a leviathan-controlled mess, and that the Roosevelt generation and their kids moved society here over the last 50 years while feathering their own nests...
“Cain will gladly spread the wealth around...”
That’s the point. Anybody with the big federal government mentality, with the centralized, top-down mentality, and that includes Cain, will never devolve any meaningful amount of power and control away from the centralized authority they gain control of. And taking money and spreading it around is what the feds do. And that is what Cain will do. He is not the guy who is willing or able to do anything else other than what he has done as a part of the times and system he grew into.
None of all that is to disparage Cain. I like the guy. He might just be the best overall of the announced candidates.
I just do not think he could make the real changes this country needs, and I know 9-9-9 is totally insufficient to inspire the producing sector.
.
> I live in the boonies
Me too.
Bummer will be the 9% tax on ammo.
But the drug dealers will have to pay it for their ammo, too.
Yeah, but only Acme Milk is sold at my local store which is 9 miles from my house. I can buy Ajax Milk at the reduced price in a bunch of stores in town but that’s a 25 mile drive each way. What’s a girl to do?
With the reduce taxes Ajax can now afford to expand their market area especially now that they are gaining market because of the lower cost. Ajax is coming.
The free market always wins out. There are very few business plans that DON’T have keeping their products cost low and lowing them when they can. Companies that don’t, don’t last.
Even if he loses he will not pay off, that’s the Democrat way.
Why would they want to pay 9% sales tax on top?
You sound like a lib the way you spout such nonsensical accusations with no facts to back them up.
I would be getting a 1% tax cut and the employer would pocket the 7.5% that he used to pay towards SS for me.
Those are just facts and predictions based on facts. The 9-9-9 plan changes nothing. It rearranges the deck chairs on the titanic. It’s the spending, stu...oh, I give up.
Now that his wife isn’t running for President, I wish Todd Palin would do the world a favor and take this little creep out in the alley and beat the crap out of him. For what he has said about the Palin women, Maher deserves a world-class thrashing and Todd would do a good job of it (and love every moment, I’m sure).
The primaries are rigged by The Establishment.
Or maybe it’s the National Convention that’s rigged. In some way, they get their McCains in.
That means all the drug dealers and welfare cheats have to pay into the system whenever they buy their cars, large screen TVs, iPods, iPads, laptops and digital SLR cameras
I am sick and damned tired of one clown after another telling me that I need to pay more taxes and have more government intrusion in my life because of "drug dealers" and "welfare cheats". Its never reform drug prosecution and welfare administration - no, its lets go oppress, burden and further tax the functioning, productive and honest American and business.
I don't want to have to pay an additional 9% up front on the purchase of a home or car. Its because way too many people couldn't come up with 20% down for a home that we have this massive bank collapse problem. Now you come along, totally oblivious to the fact that this additional levy will be demanded up front or the deal won't be made.
Imagine the start-up that is told that all of their capital investment is now going to be at least 9% higher. Plus they lose the deduction for capital improvements which means even if they aren't profitable (as many start-ups aren't) they will be penalized as if they are an Apple of Coca Cola. Its already tough enough to convince a company to expand and build manufacturing facilities in the US, now we are telling them that there is an additional 9% up front. Tell me how that works out in a thirty year financing plan for a billion dollar power or chemical plant.
You also seemed excited about the prospect of your baby-sitter now having to get a tax software package to calculate the sales tax collections, invoicing, auditing and remittances that must fit perfectly the compliance demanded by the government bureaucrat.
We have hundreds of retarded college grads who can't even figure out how to defecate, but you expect the illegal alien pruning the trees, the neighborhood kid mowing your lawn, and the girl walking your dog to maintain sales and occupancy permits and certifications along with keeping perfect records to keep them out of prison for various reporting violations.
Let me know how well that works out at your next garage sale.
And it still doesn't go after the targeted demographic as the 9% tax will be factored in to their foodstamp payment that will be increased accordingly. The Section-8 housing allowances will be increased to pay the extra 9% that everyone else had to deduct from their dwindling savings. And the drug dealers, already a lawless bunch skirting existing tax laws, will continue to sell drugs without collecting a sales tax and will continue to buy stolen and blackmarket goods.
Which is another thing a dramatic 9% increase will do. It will increase the value of stolen goods adjusting the risk/reward towards favoring more crime and more black markets. We know this is the direction it will go because history shows us that theft and black markets always increase when this sort of thing you advocate is put in place.
I don’t see how any one of those three can force anyone to vote for Romney in the primaries.
If we want people to vote for someone, it’s up to us to get out and get support for that not-Romney candidate!
As long as there is competition within a free market, the price will come down. It is the government that screw things up if WE Let them.
