Jeffress Says Satan Rules Catholicism
Catholic League ^ | 10/12/2011 | n/a

Posted on 10/12/2011 12:03:22 PM PDT by Pyro7480

Last Friday, Rev. Robert Jeffress, the Dallas pastor who introduced Gov. Rick Perry at the Values Voter Summit, spoke derisively about the Mormon faith of Mitt Romney, making the case that “Mormonism is a cult.” Two days later, he chided Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism as “false religions.”

Last year, Rev. Jeffress said the Roman Catholic Church was the outgrowth of a “corruption” called the “Babylonian mystery.” He continued, “Much of what you see in the Catholic Church today doesn’t come from God’s word. It comes from that cult-like pagan religion. Isn’t that the genius of Satan?”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue offered these remarks today:

Where did they find this guy? When theological differences are demonized by the faithful of any religion—never mind by a clergyman—it makes a mockery of their own religion. Rev. Jeffress is a poster boy for hatred, not Christianity.

What about the other 38 states which have NO legislation at all? What is not prohibted is allowed. Those illegals in those states receive in state tuition exactly like all the legal resident students in those states.

The Texas Republicans wanted control of that. Therefore, one of the toughest pieces of legislation in the USA was passed which was veto proof 4 months after Perry assumed the office of Governor. There are a few states that are tougher but only a few. Legal resident students in Texas do NOT have to meet what illegals do to go to college. IF those kids can become college graduates then being on the government dole is very unlikely.

Texas or any other state wouldn't have this huge problem if the feds did what they were constitutional authorized to do. Feds will not so states have to deal with it on their own, the best way possible.

Don’t forget this one:
Cain’s communications director, Ellen Carmichael, stressed to CNN that Cain “believes that everyone in this country has the right to practice whatever religion they choose.”

And she tried to re-characterize Cain’s comments.

“Just as he would never appoint a Catholic who is loyal to the Pope before he or she is loyal to the Constitution, Mr. Cain would never appoint a Muslim who believes Sharia law trumps our U.S. Constitution,” Carmichael said.

I didn’t like Catholics being glommed with Sharia law.

Catholics think Protestants are going to h_ll

Do you have documentation to back this up? We believe no such thing.

The reality is that the media will be all over this starting now. The association with Perry will be sealed whether you like it or not. Perry should have been more careful who he associated himself with. It’s a full damage control issue for Perry now.

And I understand your position. But don't equate this with Rev. Wright. There's a huge difference between having someone introduce you at a conference and sitting in a racist church for 20 years, yes?

I have read on FR many times a post from a Catholic saying, that, the Catholic is the only TRUE CHURCH

That's miles different from saying your Church is guided by Satan, as Jeffress did.

Yet he is proactive in promoting it. Should there be no distinction between no strict prohibition and active promotion of an idea?

I thought this was a Jeffress thread...didn’t realize it was an illegal immigrant thread. Put the blame where it belongs...THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT...

Is it just me, or is Perry half-asleep during these debates? I'm wondering if the guy might be suffering from narcolepsy.

On last night's debate live thread, a couple of his syrupy sycophants excused that, saying that it was because he gets up so early in the morning and works so goshdarn hard eight days a week for the good people of Texas.

I thought I was going to barf.

Indeed. Try reading what Roman Catholicism taught about Protestantism at the Council of Trent. Yet, I don’t hear Protestants whining about “anti-Protestant bigotry”.

You’ve stated that we have no legitimate reasons for not supporting the candidacy of Rick Perry, and we responded: illegal immigration is a really big deal. Sure, the federal government has failed, and I don’t want someone in charge of the executive branch who thinks it’s perfectly fine to allow the children of illegals to partake of the benefits of a public education system into which they have not paid.

Whoa! I hadn’t seen that statement before, and I’m acquainted with Ms. Carmichael. 0_o

Why don’t you share with us what our church taught about Protestantism at the Council of Trent so we can all gain a proper perspective?

Sidenote for clarity: I’m a firm Protestant and layman in the Presbyterian Church in America(PCA) denomination. However, I have no problem with voting for a Roman Catholic individual who shares my political views and have done so in the past.

If I could find a Roman Catholic individual to vote for, who represents all of my political views (pro-life, pro-family, pro-capitalism, pro-borders, pro-free markets, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America), I'd have no problems too.

If you haven’t been paying attention, the Mormon comments by Jeffress are making national headlines, and this will be soon be joining that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whatever. You did not post this thread to elicit comments on what Rev. Jefffress said.
Instead you intended to agitate the Catholics against the Protestants AND the pro-Perry vs. the anti-Perry crowd.
And you succeeded. Great job!
Seriously, I respect that. Not often can you find one thread with different themes to piss off different sub-grpups of FReepers.
“Hmm. Catholics think Protestants are going to h_ll, and Protestants think Catholics are going to h_ll. That’s new.”
Not really new. This has been going on for nearly 500 years.
To be so incensed by Dr. Jefferss comments, these people on this thread are pretty much filled with bigotry and hate themselves.
Wow, I haven't met any real-life mind-readers. How did you know that was my intention? (sarcasm)
In my case, they have serious problems with the Catholic organization and the Pope specifically, and have some good scripture references to back it up.
Since the Catholic Church wrote and protected scripture from the beginning, you might give the scripture citation for the Papacy (Matt 16:18) and then ask why there is an unbroken line of 265 popes from St.Peter to the current Pope if the Holy Spirit did not inspire it. See what they say. Remind them that bishops, the Eucharist, etc., proceeded the Canon of Sacred Scripture as we know it today.
