A-Rod just stuck out swinging to give Detroit the series and a trip to the ALCS finals. Final score 3-2.
Woohoo.. can’t stand the Yankees.
I don’t hate the Yankees. Its just somebody else’s turn.
I'm a Yankee fan but I admit that when the Yankees lose I tend to root for teams who haven't made or won the playoffs in awhile, except for the Red Sox. Congrats to Detroit!
Don’t think of it as a sports victory but rather a storied business and profit story going back a century.
Yankees had plenty of chances in this game. Plenty of chances. Bases loaded twice I think. Couple of long balls that just missed making it out of the park. Sucks to be them.
Hah. Tigers goin’ down.
Wish we knew what time the Sunday game will be... we have tickets to that game, but I hope it’s at night.
ROFL, from here you are downstream!
Go Red Wings! Go Tigers! Go Lions! Go Pistons! Go Wolverines! Go Spartans!
When you think about it, not many if any regions in our great country can match that.
Since the Red Sox didn't make it to the post-season, this is the next best thing... the end of the 2011 Damn Yankees.
Thank you, Tigers!
But did you see that little bounce thing he was doing there at the last? Somewhere inside him a little boy was jumping up and down going, "pleasestrikeoutpleasestrikeoutpleasestrikeout... HE STRUCK HIM OUT!"
“Just goes to show you that all the money in the world cant buy you a championship if all your star players come up small in big situations.”
I would think that when you have 8 teams playing post season, out of 30 teams in MLB, you did something right.
Besides, the Yankees have won the most championships...
27 World Series Championships in 40 World Series appearances, and the most pennants... a record 40 American League pennants.
Not too shabby.
Of course, if the Tigers beat the Rangers, a lot of people down here are really going to hate Detroit, after what happened last Sunday.
Of course the big question is which manager is going to go through the most packs of smokes during the series, Leyland or Ron Washington?
I agree. I wasn't neutral though. It was sweet to watch A-Hole, I mean A-Rod, with the last strike out, and sweeter to watch the Yankees lose in Yankee Stadium.
That guy is the most obnoxious broadcaster in all of sports. Glad to see him suffer once again.
>>ARod comes up small....again.<<
Hey, the guy has to limp along during the regular season at around $200,000 per game. At an average 4 pitches per plate appearance and 4 plate appearances per game and the poor schmuck is scraping by at $12,500 per pitch.
And people expect him to do something in the post-season? He’s tired and needs rest — why you people be hatin’ on him?
The following was printed in a paperback book I had as a kid, A World, World, World, World MAD. That I’m posting it here is not intended to denigrate the Detroit Tigers for their accomplishment against ‘the best that money can buy’ Yankees. I just found it funny then, and was reminded. Like all fans of teams that endure many years of frustration, I hope you’ll enjoy it. After all, I was a Giants fan in the ‘60s, one of the greatest teams in baseball over the decade, but perennially winding up in second place.
“Tigers, Tigers, fighting bright,
In the ball parks of the night,
Your pitching’s fair, your field adroit;
So why no pennants for Detroit?
You start out gamely each new year
With gallant hearts that know no fear
But when they total up the score,
You’ve blown four games to Baltimore.
The Cleveland Indians go to work,
They beat you good, so does New York;
When Boston adds a mortal blow,
All you can cry is: “Look out below!”
Amidst the heated pennant race,
You fight to cling to seventh place.
Tigers, Tigers, fighting bright,
In the ballparks of the night;
Some day the fans will get their fill
And ship the team to Louisville.”
I guess if you’re going to go down - go down swinging!
Oh dude, as an “old time Boston fan” I would not be crowned considering that 1your team just completed a collapse for the ages.
Tiger's enjoy this season I hope Milwaukee or Philly crushes you.
We got ROCKIN' ROBIN BABY!!!
Robin Ventura = White Sox World Series 2012!!!
