AMANDA KNOX ACQUITTED, TO BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY
Let's figure $1300 round trip. $2600 for the two parents. This was their 24th trip, so airfare was around $62,000. Hotel for 24 one week stays (I'm sure it was longer than that during the trial) at $200 a night (at least) comes to $34,000. So lets call it $100,000. Then eating would come to at least $100 a day, which is $17,000. That gives us a travel bill of roughly $120,000.
Legal fees for a murder trial and appeal over four years? At least (I'm really lowballing) $1500 a week...for 200 weeks for a lawyer's tab of $300,000.
Grand total...a minimum of $420,000. And they still had to pay their regular bills at home during all this.
I know the grandmother spent $250,000 of her own money, so one can imagine the true cost.
This family is broke.
Add to that 56 hours of grueling interrogation without the benefit of counsel or sleep or rest. After 56 solid hours I think most everyone would say just about whatever the police wanted to hear just to shut them up. I'm not taking sides but only saying Italian justice bears little or no resemblance to American justice. BOR interviewed Judge Napolitano tonight and the judge put things in perspective. It would be worth catching the rebroadcast later.
Excellent points.
LOL! My son said the same thing a few years ago!
a 900%tax on all Italian goods coming into the USA, and ban on travel to Italy for a few years is how I would handle this if its true
No kidding. There are so many media lies being repeated on this thread. I’m astonished at some of the comments. Clearly, not many spent much time reviewing the case.
“This family is broke.”
I’m sure they are, or close to it. I feel badly for them.
My comment was just in answer to your comment:
“Knoxs parents have paid . . . or somebody funded . . .for sending their daughter to Italy. And somebody is paying to fly her home.”
It sure beats living a life in the "gray" where reality is clouded by one's inability to accept facts and thus relies on the distortions provided by the MSM........
You've been following this thread, there is already one convicted murderer in this case and his name is Rudy...Why do YOU disagree with his conviction?
Must be nice living life stupid and illiterate........
Thankfully, Amanda will be able to put things right financially.
The last jury said she was not guilty........ and Stupidity is your brother.
And that's been pretty much pointed out to you during the course of the prior 400+ posts..........
I lived in Italy for a few years as a kid early 70's ,never encountered anti-Americanism,But it seem now that the only time europe wants anything to do with the US is when fritz or Ivan are misbehaving.(though now its more likely to be Mohammad the koran animal)
They may be broke now, but darling daughter can make them good when she sells the movie rights to her ‘ordeal’. They’ll be fine.
[In this case it was DNA evidence that proved someone else did it.]
And what of Amanda Knox DNA found mixed with Meredith’s blood? They didn’t challenge that evidence on appeal. In fact, they only challenged 2 pieces of evidence. The bra clasp and the knife. There was other DNA evidence that was not challenged.
[There were also several credible alibis that placed her somewhere else during the time the crime was committed.]
No there’s not. She has no alibi.
When the Germans and Italians come here, they have no problem being snarky guests, and of course we have to put up with that, too.
“My company does a lot of business in Italy and I can tell you, there’s a lot of anti-Americanism in spots.”
When Amanda pleaded with the court for her freedom, she spoke in fluent Italian, which she learned during her 4 years in prison. I heard that it really impressed the court. I said good for her!
That absolutely worked to her advantage. The Italians would see it as a sign of respect. It probably also helped her maintain her sanity, having a goal to achieve.
She did ?
I assume you don't think sitting in a foreign prison for four years was an ordeal.
