Barbara Bush phones Chris Christie's wife to beg him to run for White House
Daily Mail UK ^ | September 27, 2011

As speculation brews about a possible Chris Christie bid for the White House, several big names are joining a chorus to persuade him.

Among them is former First Lady Barbara Bush, who recently phoned the New Jersey governor's wife Mary to convince her that the Christie family would be just fine in the White House despite the intense attention, a source told the New York Post.

Mrs Bush joins political heavyweights like former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in asking that he give the presidency a shot.

Despite insisting he won't run, Governor Christie is making the most of the speculation, travelling the country this week raising money for Republicans, rubbing elbows with rainmakers and speaking at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

Gov Christie's three-state tour is bringing him to Missouri, California and Louisiana - trips paid for by each state's GOP organization.

It will also bring home a lot of money for the New Jersey state Republican Party, which will see proceeds from three fundraisers the governor is hosting.

Talk of Christie entering the 2012 race for the White House ramped up this weekend, pushed in part by Texas Gov.

Rick Perry's shaky debate performance last week, as well as his loss in the Florida straw poll to Godfather’s Pizza mogul Herman Cain on Saturday.

While Christie's advisers swatted down the notion that he was reconsidering over the weekend, former Gov. Tom Kean, a longtime Christie mentor and confidant, stirred the pot on Monday.

Christie demanding that House Republicans cave on Disaster Relief Spending

Cain: House Republicans should fund FEMA now, worry about offsets later

Palin/Cain or Cain/Palin can bring Christie in to righteously slap around the public service unions as needed, and once that task is completed, wheel his carcass back to the Golden Corral Buffet.

If a Bush is for it... I am against it... sorry... they are just too liberal when they are not running for office.

RE :”I heard Cain do that; didn't hear Christie.

Cain did that??? (demanded Republicans give in to bill with no cuts with it? ) NO-NO-NO!, head hitting wall, you have a source?

Yes, Christie needs the money for NJ (politically). it's politically understandable for Christie as governor, but not for Republican POTUS now.

Thanks, I just asked Huck for a link but you gave me one ,

Just what we need in the WH. As much as I like Cain from FNC Cavuto I was worried about stuff like this being he never even ran for office before and he supported TARP.

later=NEVER

I agree with you about the Bush’s being far better than B O and the Pervert-in-Chief but they had their moments. They gave in to the Demons too much (perhaps because they weren’t that far apart politically speaking)? I still like GW and I respect (because of his age and his public service) GHW and because I’m not as gracious as you I still hope Granny just goes away and keeps a lid on her mouth. You are so right.....their time has come and gone we’ll take it from here.:)

shield, I feel your pain (OMG, can’t believe I said that line) :)....both certainly did things that I can’t agree with politically. Sad thing is ya can’t help but like them personally....right now I have to exclude Granny since I’m po’d at her. :) I’m such a small, unforgiving person.....:(

I never regretted what I stated....somebody had to....why not me. I had no idea people could get so vicious over it. You know what they say about truth..truth can hurt. Facing facts is not always easy either. It's not the first time Barbara has made statements, I didn't agree with. But on top of Barbara's statements...I've see the other Bushes making moves...I had to question. So Barbara is being their mouth piece on where they stand, IMO. That makes it very glaring to me.

Well, they have taught me something valuable.......if one of them endorses a candidate or they’re in support of something I question then I’ll know to run the other way as fast as I can. Proof positive it wasn’t the best thing for me and the country politically....LOL.

I don’t trust any of them one little bit. I’m going back to how I knew they were when Reagan was forced to make Elder Bush his VP. I knew they were against us peons then and nothing has changed that.

“...I tell you who impresses me for the future maybe 2016, Scott Walker...”

I think Walker is impressive too - he stood up to (and into) a sh*tstorm in Wisconsin and came out smelling like a rose. Made the hard decisions, the politically deadly decisions, and weathered the crap and abuse from the socialists. The HATE him now, with that deep, visceral, abiding hate that defines liberals - because he stuck it to them where it hurts - For ONCE, someone on our side got it, and did it.

That fact alone automatically notches him up higher to me.

There are problems with Christie but I like him better than Perry. A lot of people would balk at that but yes I do.

I think it’s too late for yet another entry. If I wanted to run I wouldn’t wait past early to mid-July. A late entry followed by a flop would maybe doom his career so I don’t think he’ll get in.

Should we fail this time we have several Governors (provided they do well and win reelection) for 2016.

Well not to start an argument but, GHWB did say he found a new son in Clinton, and I think GW said he found a new brother.

No argument from me! I would be willing to bet (if it could be proven) that most, if not all the Bushes will pull the lever for demoRAT's in 2012, including for the RAT socialist commie pig 0dumb0! And if by some miracle, 0dumb0 dropped out and Hitlery became the demoRAT nominee, that would make it a slam duck for Bush's to vote for Hitlary. In fact I could easily see them campaigning for Hitlery in this case.
