Obama declares 'national emergency' for action on jobs plan
By: Carrie Budoff Brown September 14, 2011 02:08 PM EDT
RALEIGH, N.C. President Barack Obama opened the sixth day of his jobs push Wednesday with a campaign-style rally at North Carolina State University, saying the country is in the midst of a national emergency that requires Congress to act swiftly on his $447 billion plan.
Against the backdrop of more negative poll numbers and two special-election losses for Democrats, Obama called on thousands of college students assembled in the steamy Reynolds Coliseum to mobilize behind the plan, a mix of tax cuts and government spending on infrastructure, jobs programs and construction projects.
The 26-minute speech before a crowd of more than 9,000 echoed his remarks in previous days, with a slightly sharper critique of congressional Republicans for suggesting that they dont want to give Obama a political win and pass his proposal.
I get fed up with that kind of game plan, and weve been seeing it for too long. Too long, Obama said. Were in a national emergency. Weve been grappling with a crisis for three years, and instead of getting folks to rise up above partisanship in a spirit that says were all in this together, we got folks who are purposely dividing, purposely thinking just in terms of how does this play out just in terms of this election.

Of course he wants it passed before it’s written. That way they can put every micro managing, commie wet dream they’ve ever had in it.

You mean like a national emergency where you schedule the dang thing? Schedule it after the luxury vacation in the Vineyard, after the golf marathon playing?
>>> “ Folks aint buying this crapola.” <<<<
[President Barack Obama opened the sixth day of his jobs push Wednesday ] Maybe on te seventh day he’ll give us all a rest!
DoughtyOne declares ‘national emergency’ as nation awakens to the lack of a plan, any plan by the Pride of Kenya.
Obama declares ‘national emergency’............that’s how all dictators start..............
Isnt it about time for him to go on vacation again?..He is. And has been for three years or so.
I don’t see why Ozero thinks it is such an “Emergency”..requiring “immediate action”, since he decided that it wasn’t important enough to stop him from his 2 week vacation. No, I think Ozero is just full of crap.
That Bill? The one even Democrats say won't pass the Senate? That bill?
If it's such a national emergency, one would think he'd have it before Congress before someone could change the name. And one would think he'd have had it before Congress long before this. Then again, maybe the only emergency has to do with saving only one specific job: His! That would answer for why this has become such an emergency.
The national emergency is getting this guy out of office and stop the thievery of our money for campaign donations.
Couple this statement with little Timmy Geitner’s Drudge announcement “we are in the early stages of a financial disaster”, and you have a full blown Presidential declaration coming....this asswipe actually may try to seize power he can’t do under normal constitutional aegis.
If you think he’s going to look back on this past week and call it ‘Good’, you’re sorely mistaken. ;^)
Just kidding.
This guy is watching support evaporate by the moment. Desperation is such an ugly thing to have to watch.
I like your idea!
Opassthisbillrightnow sounds so ****ing dumb.
I wonder if he even knows he lost the name of his bill since no demorat bothered to intoduced it...
A week after his big speech, the plan is already DOA
To this idiot, everything is a crisis. “I have razor stubble - It is a stubble crisis!”
As I type this, the text is not available, but in due course (and there is plenty of time, Reid has the Senate tied up with other items, so the Dems are holding up Obama's parade here) it will appear at this link: Text of S.1549.
There’s an even bigger “National Emergency” than the jobs crises, Mr. Obozo. There is a complete lack of leadership in the White House and the Senate, Mr. Obozo. That lack of leadership begins at your desk.
I don’t want to hear no mo talkin from you folks bout his vacations. He gots to play mo gof.
