Palin's window closing as Republican race gains steam

The clock is ticking for Sarah Palin, and her time is almost up.

With Mitt Romney and Rick Perry taking control of a quickly shifting Republican presidential campaign, Palin may have already missed her best chance for a late entry in the race.

"I think the window for Palin is closed, and every second that ticks off the clock things get more and more difficult for her," said Craig Robinson, a former state party political director who runs the Iowa Republican website.

"People are really ready to say this is our field of candidates, these are the people we have to choose from," he said. "They are growing frustrated with Sarah Palin's game of peekaboo."

On another visit to Iowa last weekend, she told reporters she was happy with the field of Republican candidates and quickly added: "I always think there is room for more."

But with the first nominating contest in Iowa less than five months away, little time is left to organize a national campaign, hire a staff and raise the money to compete.

The once unsettled battle for the Republican nomination to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012 has taken shape with last month's entry of Perry, the Texas governor who has roared to the top of the polls with strong conservative support.

Perry zoomed past Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, by appealing to the same coalition of social, religious and Tea Party fiscal conservatives that Palin would target if she gets in the race.

"Now that Perry and Romney have begun to draw the battle lines between them, I don't think there is any room for Palin in the campaign," said Republican strategist Rich Galen. "She's still a big personality, but she's not a potential candidate."

Pure left wing media talking points.

We already know that she decided to run, and has been running since the fall of 2008, and your talking point jabber is annoying to sensible people.

Are sensible people like yourself willing to acknowledge that Sarah Palin said in July that she would announce her decision in late August or early September?

The same people claiming Sarah is too late to the race are begging Christy to get in. Apparently it’s not too late for Christy.

Well, noob, we don’t happen to have one of those on hand, we have DC insider empty suits like Romney, Perry, and Huntsman to dazzle the idiots like you, and we have a woman with the cojones that they lack to do the job on Obama.

You know, she said (many times) it would be by the END of September early October before the filing deadlines.. Since when is the 8th, the end of September?

You are letting the LSM pull your strings.

I thought we hated that.

Just wondering, is there an official FEC deadline for filing for 2012 elections? If so, wouldn’t that be her drop-dead announcement date?

The main issue with the FEC is that she cannot accept any campaign contributions until she files as a candidate with the FEC. SarahPAC can, but if Sarah has any connection to them, they cannot use the funds to support her candidacy - a PAC has to have an arm-length relationship with any candidate. The first filing deadline for a primary is November 1st (SC), at least right now. If Florida doesn't move their primary (currently scheduled for Jan. 30th) back to March or later, however, you will probably see Iowa, NH and SC move their contests up to early January or December. That could move the filing dealines up into early October.

She hasn’t dithered or dathered anything. She has never ever said anything about running unless she was asked.Stop spewing out the latest meme. Liberals do things like that, not us around here.

She’ll announce when she’s ready. Open your mind, it’s very closed.

>> Katie Couric threw her a relatively softball question, “So which magazines do you read?”

Sarah Palin: “All of them.” <<

.
Are you that stupid?

Palin gave Couric an accurate answer, and an appropriate one; her cognition is magnitude levels above the cotton head Couric, and it wasn’t a softball question, it was an opener to the attack that would have followed if she mentioned the important reading that she does (Human Events, Chronicles, New American, etc) that the liberal morons despise.

She wasn’t “ill prepared” for the national scene, she was ill prepared for being back-stabbed by McCain’s lieutenants; she was used to teams that work together.

I want a man with balls to take on the Muslim in the WH.

So vote for Huntsman, he's a man with balls.

I might point out that a "man with ball's" in the White House lost us Russia, Eastern Europe, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Iran, South Africa, Rhodesia, Serbia, Georgia, and maybe Afghanistan and Iraq.

I suspect your trouble is she is a girl and won't do what you want.

Palin is excellent a fighting with the weapons at her disposal unlike RINOs or the aforementioned "men with balls".

And another thing, "since February 2011"?

Thank you for reply, but I am not sure I understand what it means....

Are you saying that conceivably a person could still be a candidate in other states with later deadlines, they just could not take donations in NC if they miss the Nov. 1 date?

I am surprised I haven’t seen more responses that express the following point... What you are seeing in Sarah Palin’s actions is the most brilliant logistical move I have ever seen!! She has total name recognition. Is there anybody in America who does not know her name? She is traveling America giving each group she meets with the motivation to work for the restoration of America. She presented her 5 Point Plan in a corn field in Iowa on 9/3. This is gaining her a groundswell of support that is scaring the dickens out of the Libs, and we see the results in the LSM ... and any conservative who believes the LSM needs a wake-up call. Anybody who thinks she won’t have the financial backing of hardworking American people is naive. $10 x 3 MILLION (for example) is $30 MILLION. I, for one, am prepared to give a LOT more than $10. She will arrive in DC owing absolutely NO one a “sweet deal” to pay back for financial support. It is brilliant, and it is the American way to campaign, debate, vote and select our candidate. I can’t find fault in any of her actions for the 2012 run.

Palin knows how to read a calendar, so the deadline meme is stupid.

Establishment politicians and their media also harp endlessly for Palin to announce, saying “the train is leaving the station” et al. Of course, we hear nothing of this meme regarding Chris Christy and other potentials, whose train would most certainly be waiting patiently for them in the station.

Thanks for your response. But having trouble following the points you were trying to make. One thing, you referred to Governor Palin as a “girl”. I view her as a very gifted woman who would serve her country well. IMO, it seems to me she is losing credibility by not announcing what her position will be going forward. The country has 14 MONTHS to ensure that the republic we enjoy will endure. This is NOT a GAME.

She's doing nothing. That's brilliant. And when Obama goes golfing he's being the most brilliant tactician since Palin.

Can you admit that Sarah Palin said she would make an announcement about running in late August or early September. Can you at least make that admission?

Or am I lying?

No, donations and filing deadlines are two different things. Filing deadlines for primaries are state by state, and have nothing to do with the FEC. However, no candidate can accept any donations for their campaign until they have either filed with the FEC as a candidate or they have set up an exploratory committee and registered it with the FEC. That is because all donations to the candidate have to be reported to the FEC and there are specific dollar limits per donor.

That is why you will often see the Palin supporters comment that they have their donations waiting to send in - they can't donate to her until she files with the FEC as a candidate.
