Palin: “there’s room for more” (audio) September 2, 2011 By O.Kay Henderson 4 Comments As former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin walked in the front door of The Machine Shed restaurant in Urbandale, Iowa, this evening, a reporter asked Palin what she thought about the current field of GOP presidential candidates.

“Happy with the field of candidates. I always think that there’s room for more, though, because spirited debate and more competition will allow an even better discourse and a more rigorous discourse that the public deserves,” Palin said.

There are poll sitters and then there are those who recognize these are another ploy to push candidates as each one might desire the election to “LOOK”.

Intelligent people watch the candidates and determine for themselves the outcome.....and polls are always mixed and varied this early on to begin with.

Perry s out in front for many because he's the new guy on the block...but like Bachman and others who had their moment...he too will fade to the sidelines as others come to the forefront.

But again..few who consider the polls anything but a “list” for those who ‘need’ a list. Most don't’.

If one wants to know for sure when she is ready, stay tuned in to the Bob & Mark radio show in Alaska. She said they would get the privilege when she was ready, and she will be true to her word, nuff said.

How about she shut her mouth up until she decides and not take the space away from current candidates who actually had the courage to announce and campaign?

Oooh, the poor little other candidates are being treated so mean, because Sarah just won't shut up and go away. Wah, wah, wah.....

Good grief, that argument means nothing.

It’s not entertaining for the people throughout Iowa and the rest of the country already contributing time and money to her. But no worry, it’s just a matter of time. Bob

If she's running I'm sure she's aware of these, but there isn't a lot of time to start planning. Most candidates have already payed their filing fees and are on a lot of the ballots already.

So you obviously think she's dumb enough that if she eventually says "I'm running" that then and only then will she start planning what needs to be done to get on the ballots?

ROFL!

How much of a campaign infrastructure does she really need?

If she tweets that she will be appearing somewhere, people often come from hundreds of miles away for the chance to meet her.

She already has the loyal supporters and the name recognition.

And The Undefeated is in effect her cheap solution to campaign ads. On Pay-Per-View now, then going to Wal-Mart where the talking heads *aren't*. (I once worked with a manager who refused to be caught dead in a Wal-Mart, even to save 30% on brand-name paper towels he was buying anyway. He also rented a Dodge Durango which he had to trade in after a couple of months because he couldn't afford the lease *and* the gas prices. When I asked why he didn't buy a smaller or more fuel-efficient car, he haughtily told me "That's not the kind of image I'm trying to present.")

Cheers! With retail politics Cheers!

When Palin declares, the Perry supporters are going to crap themselves so hard that even their clothes hangers will have little skid marks.

Cheers!

I'm sure she can do her planning in secret, but do you see any campaign infrastructure in any of the states? Do you think a month and a half is enough time to meet all of the filing deadlines, paperwork, and fees for 56 different primaries?

Maybe it is, but contrary to people who say "the election is 14 months away", time is ticking down.

B; Perry last week: “I want Washington as inconsequential in our lives as possible.”

Gotta say, quote B is the spirit of the times IMO.

Mark Steyn had some good advice on how to advance that spirit in Investors' Business Daily a couple weeks ago:

"I got tickled by watching Gov. Perry," said the former president [Bill Clinton]. "And he's saying, 'Oh, I'm going to Washington to make sure that the federal government stays as far away from you as possible — while I ride on Air Force One and that Marine One helicopter and go to Camp David and travel around the world and have a good time.' I mean, this is crazy."

This is the best argument the supposedly smartest operator in the Democratic Party can muster?

If Clinton wants to make the increasingly and revoltingly unrepublican lifestyle of the American president a campaign issue, Perry should call his bluff.

-Steyn, "Next President Must Live Like Coolidge, Not Obama", {investors.com, August 19th)

The column is a good read for anyone concerned with Imperial Washington in general and the Imperial Presidency in particular.

Yes. I'm sure the research has been done, there is a plan in place, and probably all the paperwork is already filled out and ready to turn in.

As for campaign infrastructure... watch and see what happens. It ain't going to be the usual type of campaign -- she's already said that. So the usual actions of candidates getting ready to announce aren't going to be followed, except those that really are necessary (like getting paperwork ready to turn in).

I heard what Clinton said and thought it was the most tone deaf mish mash statement he’s ever made. Totally missed the mark on Perry. I’ll go look up Steyn’s column.

Okay, this is plainly not for you...but for anyone else out there contemplating a job change OVER A YEAR IN THE FUTURE according to this typical Perry voter you are being DECEPTIVE if you don’t give notice you are quitting TODAY. And yes, to take such a lame stretch is pathetic.

What’s next? A reliable friend of a friend who witnessed Palin return videos to a store in 1989 that weren’t fully rewound? Her campaign bus didn’t come to a full stop at a railroad crossing? Did she eat StarKist Tuna before it became fully “dolphin-friendly”? Hit her hammer with a thumb and said a nasty in front of a nun?

PATHETIC.

Being able to attract large crowds does not win primaries or get you on the ballot. You have to jump through all of the 56 different sets of hoops there are to get on the ballot. Some states require thousands of signatures to get on the ballot, some require thousands of pages of paperwork. You have to have people in each state handling the ballot requirements; there's completely different rules for each state and territory.

Even Perry's people are having some trouble catching up to the other candidates who already handled a lot of ballot access requirements.

The qualifying period to get access by getting signatures in some states has (Virginia for example requires 10,000 signatures) started weeks ago.

There's still time, but people who say that she can wait several more months don't know what they're talking about.
