Glad you’re ok, PA Mom.
I’ve heard that dogs can “sense” these sort of events.

5.8 is still a pretty good shaker. If homes and buildings haven’t utilized earthquake resistant measures in their construction, the damage could be significant.

This one was only half a mile deep......probably felt like a lot more than 5.8.
Frightening for the folks on the east coast who are not used to earthquakes.

Thanks for the update! I am pretty sure is fine too, but he’s all by himself down there after my aunt passed away (and he refuses to move, and I can’t blame him).

For you to respond like that is disturbing. If a Californian is concerned, I’m concerned. They’re saying it was 3 miles deep, so it was relatively shallow. First they said a mile, then 3.5.

Are you saying God works in mysterious ways? I'm saying I think King James mistranslated "locusts." He meant "Federal Government."

Again, I’m no expert..but if the entire fault line slips..over hundreds of miles...then the effect is spread out....and the intensity fo the groudn movement is somewhat abated...MP<

Some freeper mentioned that east-coast architecture is not designed for earthquakes. However, earthquakes can and, obviously, do happen anywhere. A wooden house, bolted to the foundation and shear walls will give you your best chance of survival. Unreinforced masonry is almost invariably deadly.
