Michele Bachmann's own mother ratted her out for skipping a family reunion - which the Tea Party darling blamed for making her late to an event in Iowa Sunday night.
Bachmann's mom, Jean Amble, and her two cousins told Politico Monday that the Minnesota congresswoman never showed up at the reunion, though hubby Marcus Bachmann and the couple's children did.
Yet when the candidate arrived late to the Black Hawk County Republican Party dinner Sunday night, she told Radio Iowa that she was late because "I had a family reunion north of Waterloo today," Reuters reported.
Texas Governor Rick Perry was also at the event, Reuters said.
Bachmann had repeatedly talked about the family reunion throughout the weekend, Politico pointed out.
On Fox News Sunday she told host Chris Wallace that she was looking forward to seeing her family.
"We're having a big family reunion today in northeastern Iowa so I'll get to go and see all my relatives," she said.
The Des Moines Register also reported that Bachmann had spoken excitedly about attending the reunion - and noted her spokeswoman echoed the sentiment as well.
"Michele got so see family members in town and went to see a shut-in while in Waterloo," campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart told the newspaper.
The Register also reported that "Iowans - and reporters - have started to take note of Bachmann's late arrivals."
If my Mother turned on me that easily, I’d skip her stupid reunion also.
NO!
Unfortunately, it’s on video. It happened. I did a Google search and found that the liberal HuffPo is running with it, of course:

FWIW- I have more than 3 friends...that could certainly be POTUS...and they've never been a politician.
Was your “book” written by the DNC?
I know it sounds crazy to you.........
You hope, troll.
Happy !^birthday^! to Elvis on the anniversary of his death?”
That was bad.
Even I know Elvis is born in January.
Why I know this, I don’t know.
Is it because my daughter, my sis-in-law and brother-in-law are all born within a week of each other in jan? But they are after Elvis (I think).
Is it because I worked with a fanatic Elvis fan for years? I don’t think so, because I would never have known today was the anniversary of his death, except for this Bachmann gaffe and a post on NRO today. I do know he died in the summer, because I remember it. And a very snarky annoying piece about it that appeared in the Village Voice.
(See, I still read the Village Voice in those days, and there was no such word as snarky.)
You don’t make a mistake like this. Not if you’re a Republican.
But she may escape MSM scrutiny as everyone seems to have their knickers in a twist thinking that Perry has threatened to hang Ben Bernanke from the highest tree.
Now all we need to know are the Mother’s motivations, and stories about a few of her skeletons, and we’ll have the whole story.
Umm.. What’s your point? Where did I say she couldn’t win? Exactly the reason why Bachmann doesn’t belong in the White House. Orators are not Presidents.
“Leading” isn’t just going on Fox News and touting your opposition to whatever legislation is going on. It’s about going out and gathering followers to your position.
I’ve been extremely unimpressed with her election strategy. Her entire campaign has been based on Iowa, buying the straw poll and hoping that momentum is enough to carry her to the caucus, and then the caucus momentum into the next state.
This strategy rarely works successfully. Florida is where the real battleground begins, and the momentum of the South Carolina primary is what you want going into that. The momentum from winning South Carolina carries much more weight into the Florida Primary and into Super Tuesday. Perry knows this and was smart enough to announce down there.
Bachmann is toast. It’s why she’s trading at 6.5% on Intrade right now while Perry is 40%.
Bachmann started going downhill when she offered Ed Rollins a job.
Like I said before shes ditsy
Reporter: How was it seeing your daughter again?
MB's Mother: Michelle couldn't make it, but Marcus and the children were there.
Either get everyone on the same page, or simply tell the truth
Mail.
Oh I thought you were talking about the Elvis thing...my bad. ;-)
Agreed. Rollins is extremely overrated as a strategist too. Don’t make your stand in Iowa. Huckabee lost the election and all of his momentum in South Carolina. That’s where she should have been. Perry beat her to the punch. Announcing in South Carolina was a brilliant move on his part.
“Rollins is extremely overrated as a strategist too.”
*****
Bite your tongue. Rollins is the best. Just ask Presidents Perot and Kemp (RIP).
I'm assuming you forgot the sarcasm tag...
Elvis is dead????
