Michele Bachmann's own mother ratted her out for skipping a family reunion - which the Tea Party darling blamed for making her late to an event in Iowa Sunday night.
Bachmann's mom, Jean Amble, and her two cousins told Politico Monday that the Minnesota congresswoman never showed up at the reunion, though hubby Marcus Bachmann and the couple's children did.
Yet when the candidate arrived late to the Black Hawk County Republican Party dinner Sunday night, she told Radio Iowa that she was late because "I had a family reunion north of Waterloo today," Reuters reported.
Texas Governor Rick Perry was also at the event, Reuters said.
Bachmann had repeatedly talked about the family reunion throughout the weekend, Politico pointed out.
On Fox News Sunday she told host Chris Wallace that she was looking forward to seeing her family.
"We're having a big family reunion today in northeastern Iowa so I'll get to go and see all my relatives," she said.
The Des Moines Register also reported that Bachmann had spoken excitedly about attending the reunion - and noted her spokeswoman echoed the sentiment as well.
"Michele got so see family members in town and went to see a shut-in while in Waterloo," campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart told the newspaper.
The Register also reported that "Iowans - and reporters - have started to take note of Bachmann's late arrivals."
hmmm. maybe a roadblock setup to allow the Obama entourage free and open access to the roadways is to blame.. or sumthin’..
Over to you, Andrea..
You know how many pounds you can gain at a family reunion?
Or perhaps, Sarah’s FANTASTIC showing at the Iowa State Fair and the positive media coverage she got from it.
Apparently Bachmann did not do what most conservatives find they need to do early on: Read the riot act to the family about never talking about ANYTHING to the media. Ask Newt Gingrich’s mom.
That was weird.
I typed a comment - which disappeared - so I typed another one.
Then they both show up.
Now I look like a moron;) LOL!!
W. W. O. D.
She didn’t say she was there, but she implied it. She deliberately and knowingly misled her audience. That’s deceit, in my book.
“And when Michele was 16 she told us she went to the movies with Suzie Crabtree, but I know she really went to the drive-in with that Billy Bohemios boy.”
If you're not at the table, you're on the menu!
LOL
Hmmm....
voted against TARP
voted against stimulus
voted against Omnibus
voted against cap & tax
voted against Obamacare
voted to repeal Obamacare
voted against the Boner bill
voted against raising the debt ceiling
Doesn’t know when Elvis died
That’s it! I can’t support her any longer!
Sounds just like my crackhead ex-wife.
The “Happy Birthday Elvis” debacle, although it wouldn’t influence my vote negatively, unfortunately makes her look STUPID to potential voters.
WT-????????????????
Does she not have a smartphone, and can she not do 30 seconds of research before making a fool of herself?
Does she not have “handlers”? Is she really that inept?
Un-frickin-believeable. She can’t afford to give the enemy more ammo.
I like just about everything she preaches, but there’s just something too facile or too careless in her excuses and some of her stories. Reminds me, most unfortunately, of Hillary (who was “named for Sir Edmund” and crouched below a flow of bullets, among other created sound-bites.
Given SOP in the MSM, this will get a lot of play: “Her own mother calls her a liar.”
That’s just the kind of thing that the Dems and the media love to run with: “I she lied about a simple thing like that, what else will she lie about?”
Don’t kid yourself. This will do some damage, at least in the short term.
You go on believing that if it helps you sleep at night.
Well, if you read the statement that Bachman made, she didn’t exactly lie. She said that she had a family reunion today, not that she attended a family re-union. Perhaps all the logistics of getting her family there and preparing for a political appearance were complicated by the two events on the same day.
Yeah Newbie.....we bow to you!
Texas Governor Rick Perry was also at the event, Reuters said. So Gov. Perry was at the Bachmann reunion? I know Perry is campaigning hard, but I don't think he's going to pick up many votes at a Bachmann family reunion.
I know;)
