My reaction is similar to yours. I like Bachmann but came away thinking that Pawlenty was the more stable candidate. He has gradually grown on me. My first choice, though, has always been Santorum.
I liked what I heard from Gov. Pawlenty. I’m for Perry, Bachmann, or any other Republican that wins the nomination. I don’t think Gov. Palin is going to run; I must admit I don’t want her to run because she is so beatable. She has taken all the fire and is radioactive amongst all but conservatives. It is not fair and politics is not fair. Nobama is the goal and I think a non-Palin conservative, especially a governor of a largely successful state is the ticket.
Bachmann / CAIN?
I don’t think so. They both draw too much attention to themselves. I think either one of them would need a quieter personality to run with.
What a richard head he is.
[Yes, its been a dark day in American politics, particularly for the Republican Party, and may get darker soon, now that Jon Huntsman is starting to waiver.]
I’d hate to be your wife if you are able to drip that much sarcasm:) That was pretty funny.
I liked Pawlenty.
Sadly, he’s the only one doing the responsible thing. The others continue to divide the Republican vote giving that vote to Romney.
At some point, one questions their true allegiance. Without all the division of vote (poll) taking place, a conservative would be in the lead.
Gingrich, Santorum, and Cain should all get out....if they care about a conservative victory.
“Id hate to be your wife if you are able to drip that much sarcasm:) That was pretty funny.”
LOL. She doesn’t mind (usually). I just get a kick out of these candidates that come out of nowhere and think that people will kiss their toes when they run.
I live in PA and thought that Santorum did what was right, even though I can’t STAND Spector. Now Spector’s gone (by his own ego and arrogance), Toomey is in and Santorum didn’t have to stab a fellow Republican in the back for it to happen. I’d like to see Santorum (if he doesn’t become POTUS or VP first) defeat Bob Casey and get him out of the Senate, a place where he never belonged. Santorum also did a wonderful job filling in for Bill Bennett on Friday morning radio shows.
He’s a good candidate for washing cars...
As for a political figure, not so much.
Any guy that is as willing to try to destroy another candidate a few days before he washes his hands of the race, is a sellout shill.
There really isn’t much lower of a life-form in the political arena.
Nobody is doubting Santorum's credentials, or that he is a solid conservative. He has just lost any momentum he may have had going into Iowa.
Bachmann is a pro-life and rock solid conservative, as is Perry and Palin (who may still declare). The point is to challenge flipper-flopper Mitt Romney, who now claims to be pro-life, but on any given day could change his mind. Pawlenty just blew it with attacks on Bachmann instead of Romney, which made him look weak. A stupid move if you ask me.
I sat home and allowed Obama the keys to the White House. It’s a regret that I shall never live down. Of course, we would have been stuck with that sorry sack of crap McCain for 8 years too so.....Pretty much a wash.
I think he would. Like he’s said repeatedly, he’s unemployed.
In half-an-hour I suffered twelve mosquito bites on my left triceps between my short-sleeve shirt and the elbow: and my wife gave up counting after twenty-two on my legs (despite five confirmed-by-blood-smear hard kills by swatting).
Cheers!
>> “No one notice him at the fair....they have video of him walking around like a regular guy and hardly anyone paid him attention” <<
.
I think that most of the candidates could do that, but let Palin try it...
You’re right, twigs. The net result of Santorum’s decision was good, and Santorum, himself, is a strong conservative, who shouldn’t leave the fight.
Naive!
Cheers!
It is way too early to want such a solid conservative out of the race. Santorum makes the field stronger as long as he's in it.
I saw T-Paw at the Right Online conference in Minneapolis recently, and you can tell he needs severe testosterone injections. His attacks on Bachmann were a desperate attempt to gain traction: he was a decent gov (backed down the then-DFL-controlled legislature on taxes) though a squish on environmental issues; and, his true Achilles' heel, as exciting as watching paint dry.
Cheers!
With no national campaign experience, Pawlenty bet the farm on Iowa. Bachmann cleaned his clock; he didn't even pull 48% as many votes.
