“I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused my wife, Huma,” Weiner said, adding that he will not resign.

Weiner said most of the contact took place before his marriage, but some has continued since his wedding in 2010. He said he has interacted with six women over the last three years.

“This was a very dumb thing to do, this was a very destructive thing to do,” Weiner said. “If you’re looking for some deep explanation for it, I simply don’t have one.”

Ruh Roh......he's explaining that “to the best of his knowledge these women were all adults” and that was “based on what they posted on social media”. That tells me that he more than likely knows that one or more were not adults and he's trying to leave himself an escape hatch.
