Book: (Barney) Frank helped partner get Fannie Mae job
Boston Globe ^ | May 26, 2011 | Glen Johnson

Posted on 05/26/2011 8:51:16 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Representative Barney Frank helped his then-companion land a job at mortgage giant Fannie Mae in the early 1990s at the same time Congress was writing legislation to improve oversight of the lender, according to New York Times reporter Gretchen Morgenson, who recently wrote a book examining the financial crises.

Frank was a member of the House Financial Services Committee in 1991 when he "actually called up the company and asked them to hire his companion, who had just gotten an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business," Morgenson said during a recent appearance on National Public Radio.

"Of course the company was happy to provide a job for his companion and rolled out the red carpet in a series of interviews with a variety of executives, and it ultimately did hire the man," she said. "And he stayed there for I believe seven years."

Morgenson did not say the hire had anything to do with the collapse of Fannie Mae in 2008, but gave it as an example of the cozy relationship that Fannie Mae executives had with lawmakers who were charged with overseeing them.

She said Frank aggressively defended the mortgage giant after it hired his live-in partner, Herb Moses.

"He was very aggressive to, for instance, the head of the Congressional Budget Office at that time, who was trying to call for increased capital requirements and to call for a focus on safety and soundness at Fannie Mae, that Frank really took him apart in testimony," Morgenson said, according to a transcript of NPR's Fresh Air.

Frank said in an interview this morning that he did recommend Moses for the job but did not solicit his hiring.

And then Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are assigned to write new financial regulations. Wake me up from this nightmare.

There’s just something wrong somehow with mentioning Bawney Fwank and “Fannie” in the same breath...

High time this subversive f*g was put in jail where he belongs.

There has to be a word for when one fag enables another to deploy destructive economic racism.

Is it just me, or is more and more of the news sounding like it was ripped from the pages of The Onion? I actually had to Ixquick search for the Amos Tuck School of Business—it sounds like a joke name. And don’t get me started on Barney Frank meddling with an organization called ‘Fannie’.

Hence, my tagline.

“...having another turd burglers back....”

Brother, there is something soooooooo wrong with that imagery...and I just ate lunch.

I’m just continually amazed that this freak pervert keeps managing to worm his way into Congress - or that people keep voting for the Butt Ranger.

I've known about this for a couple of years now.

The MSM pretends it's just learning about it.

The MSM should have done their job in reporting the facts years ago but were too busy lying to the American public.

Never mind...sorry I even went there.

This isn’t exactly a revelation, is it? Granted, it hasn’t been given the attention it deserves in the MSM, but this is no big secret.

No, I’m on best behavior...got scolded by the (an?) Admin Mod sometime back for being too free with the profanity.

So I will refer to Fwank as Butt Ranger, Butthole Bandit, The Analizer, Mr. Rumpus ‘N Ready, Doctor Proctology, Turd Burglar, etc, but not the complete F word...

for now....[grinning...]

It's easy to be flippant about this story, because Barney is gay and wicked liberal, so he makes a fairly large (literally and figuratively) target for us here. But this story is absolutely illustrative of the endemic corruption in Washington today.

The facts are really quite simple:

Fannie Mae's lobbyists were looking to get Barney in the tank because they needed someone to play D for them on the Finance committee. So what do they do? They roll out the red carpet for Herb Moses, Barney's "spouse," and give him a cushy DC-type job, and Barney's rolling in campaign contributions thereafter. Thanks to that one job, now Fannie Mae has Barney Frank singing its praises and defending it left and right, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that Fannie Mae is going down the toilet.

And Barney's main line of defense here? "Everyone does it this way in DC." No sh*t, Barney, that's the point. That's why we're in this mess.

The colossal jerkoffs (in one of the country's most gerrymandered districts, by the way---I'm looking at YOU, Newton) who continue to elect this man to Congress despite the corruption and flat-out incompetence he displays do so for two reasons: he's gay, and he's a liberal. In other words, he's one of them. One-issue, identity politics at its worst. Yet these are the same people who'd look down their nose at someone who voted for a candidate because he was a Christian.
