Careful you don’t make the term RINO meaningless by attaching it to everyone you don’t like. I am not a fan of Perry. I don’t even like the guy, but he is probably more conservative than the Speaker or the Lieutenant government, or Senator Cornyn. He is certainly more conservative than Kaye Bailey whom he just defeated, and the Bushes hate him. Ideologically he is probably close to Palin. She and he have been “buddies.” Right now he is trying to get a budget through that does not dip into the “Rainey Day” fund, which is the posture of the House but not the senate. He speaks of a $10,000 college degree, which is causing screams from the higher education fat cats.On margin he is conservative, though not a minimalist. Historic comparison: Calvin Coolidge or Taft.

Dead on correct. I watched Perry with Sarah on stage, and the difference between their demeanor and ability to connect with the crowd were stark.
I believe that, without Gov Palin's endorsement at that rally, Perry would have had a much tougher fight against Kaye Bailey Hutchison in the primary. The Bush clan were running non-stop ads for her, all over the state.
Sarah was the megaton power that put Perry in the unassailable lead position in that race.
Perry also came out and spoke at a couple of Tea Party rallies during that time, and said a whole lot of the sorts of things that we want to hear. Since he won the election - not so much.
If Rush is in, I’m in. Now I realize how that sounds, but there it is.
Why does he want these “toll roads”? To help Mexico export illegals all over the nation and to send US money to their country and aid those who are illegally here. Do you want proof? Go right to the source himself.

He has the amazing RINO ability to say he supports one thing and then when it’s convenient to his election, be completely against what he said he supported, until he gets elected and it no longer matters to him. Then he goes back to what he really wanted. He’s a politician, not a principled conservative at all.
Yes, he seems bi-polar at times. But there's a very simple method to the madness. Perry's mood swings depend entirely on what time of the year it is.
Campaign season = "Save the babies, seal the border & deport the illegals, drill baby drill, let go huntin', I'm killin' big government, Texas should secede and declare war on Obama! Yee-haw I'm a red blooded texas patriot!!!"
Safely in office for a while = "Gosh darn we gotta reach out to hispanics more and not offend 'em, and ya know I really feel bad for them gay folks trying to live their lives. And heck, I can't cut money for the kiddies and for grandma. Ya know we Republicans and Democrats gotta put aside partisanship and work together..."
I'm not one of those who throws the term around loosely. It's got a specific meaning, and I use it precisely in that way.
Rick Perry strikes me as a politician who is a Republican more for reasons of opportunism, than because of holding any bona fide core values that are in alignment with our basic principles.
How is Perry in immigration? Not another W, I hope.

Rick Perry makes mistakes.
They all do.
He knows he should not have pushed the vaccine and the hiway thing. If that’s the worst thing he’s done, I can live with that.
It’s true he seems to slide to the left now and then, but a good slap upside the head by the people sets him straight back on the Conservative course. At least he LISTENS to the people.
Rick Perry is not a perfect candidate, but such a candidate does not exist and never has. But Perry is one of the few potential candidates with both the skill and record to build a credible national effort quickly, and turn the national political landscape around in his favor. If he were to run, Rick Perry would be a very strong candidate.

We Texans have a lot of major F’d up models, but financially we have it down - constitutionally no deficit spending. If Rick can spread that around... maybe the US can make a comeback.

Much will happen between now and November 2012. If the economy recovers, Obama probably wins another term no matter who is running for the GOP. Of course, many Obama policies seem designed to destroy our economy. Maybe his zeal to harm this country will doom Obama's chances at a second term. If the economy becomes much worse, the Republicans might be able to win with any nominee. If things are about the same as they are now, the race will be close.
I haven't looked closely at Governor Perry and have nothing against him. From what I've seen, I'd be happy to support him in the general election. Swing voters in states like Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania may be hesitant to support another Texan. I see no reason to believe that he'd be more electable than Mr. Romney is. Mitt Romney leads Obama by six points in Michigan. He leads by a point in Pennsylvania where Obama's approval is around 42%. He is the closest candidate to Obama in Ohio.

Milt is the grandfather of ObamaCare. That, by definition makes him unacceptable as the GOP nominee for POTUS. Milt as the nominee takes Obama off the hook for ObamaCare.
There is no way I would vote for Milt for POTUS. I voted for him for governor and will not make the mistake of voting for him for anything ever again.
You know, I kind of get that feeling.
Palin isn't some hermit hiding in the hills, she talks to people, she talks to other politicians, its not much of a stretch, that her and Perry (whom she endorsed) might be in contact.
My guess, he wants to see if she runs, if she doesn't, he will, if she does, he won't.
