Miami, FL, United States (AHN) Hundreds of Burger King Corp. employees were blind sided with layoff notices on Monday. The company reduced its personnel by 413 positions in North America and Latin America.

Guess who didn’t contribute to the Obama re-election fund. :)
I hear McDonald’s is hiring....
When you change a product like your french fries to something that tastes like cardboard from the best fries on the market and you also change your frying method to something that makes any fried product you sell taste like it is dipped in sour vinegar, your market share will drop.
Burger King needs to add a floor show. Maybe they could have someone in a bikini jump up on the counter and dance around. That might help.
Burger King didn't get their ObamaCare waiver because, although the Wee Wee greatly admires them, he's jealous because they can dish out as almost as many Whoppers as he can
I have to agree: the fries at BK are the worst. They suck.
What VP in that company lost his job because of that god awful crap? I know NO ONE who likes those fries.
It has been years since I have eaten at a BK. One BK closed and the other BK restaurants near my house are run down and look dirty.
When they first switched to the corrugated-flavored fries, their website shut down the "Contact us" link after two days.
If I want a BK burger, which are the best IMHO, then I take a bag of Lay's potato chips with me.
BTW, I only eat a McDonalds if I am having "digestive" difficulty. Works within one hour.
Boycott McDonalds? Lemme think about this. McDonalds applied for and received a waiver. A waiver from a hated piece of legislation. Everybody wants a waiver from this legislation. Is the waiver forever? What if McD’s splits into several companies? Is the waiver transferable? Since the government granted the waiver, the government can rescind the waiver pretty much at whim. It is the government, after all. So, how to evaluate McD’s position as a viable company?
Why was Mickey D’s granted a waiver? Who knows. Graft and corruption probably.
Don’t we send a mixed message if we boycott a business that got a waiver that everyone covets? After all the health care plan is universally hated. Doctors hate it, employers hate it. Those who would protect life hate it. Wouldn’t a boycott instead encourage McD’s to succumb to the legislation in order to stop the boycott? We don’t want to cut off our nose to spite our face.
Now, comes another issue. An equal protection of the laws constitutional issue. How can Congress pass a law and only apply to some and not all equally placed persons? IT CAN’T. The waivers are UNCONSTITUTIONAL. The law has to be applied to all or none.
Back in he 60’s Ted Kennedy started the US down this medical insurance path by linking employment to health insurance, requiring full time employers to supply health insurance as part of the package. So now, no one will hire anyone except as contract labor or part time.
And Bambi wonders why the job market is terrible. It is directly related to the Bambi health care plan. WHY CAN’T PEOPLE SEE THIS?
Bambi won't see it because he lives in a bubble of Marxists who feed him info. This why he loses his cool when someone asks tough questions. The people pushing this are composed of at least two groups: those with an agenda (gov. power or personal power), and the useful idiots (layabouts, perpetual students, slackers) who have a loud voice via the internet and are flash-mob connected to protests. They got nothing else to do all day, so they push the power-mongers' agenda. I wish someone would ask the question: why are waivers even available?
"It's Good To Be the King."
I do know. I work for the company that designed their benefits. Mc'Ds was about to lose coverage on about 40,000 hourly workers due to HCR. Specifically because of the annual max and minimum loss ratios.
The administration was put on notice that unless their underwriter (BCS Insurance) got a waiver, they were looking at the biggest news story of the year with 40,000 Americans losing their health insurance (that they liked by the way) almost immediately after the law was passed.
It was nothing more nefarious than HHS running interference to ward off bad press on his new law. The waiver process was created, designed, and implemented to keep the administration out the headlines week after week with poor minimum wage people that no longer had health insurance.
“It was nothing more nefarious”
What you have explained sounds pretty darned nefarious to me.
Their pancakes are horrible, too. They introduced breakfast some months ago, and I suppose they are still scratching their heads trying to figure out why their parking lot is empty in the morning and McDonald’s’ is full.
I'm just saying put the blame where it belongs...on the Obama administration and not McDonald's. There was no graft or corruption involved on McD's end.
If they are guilty of anything, it's of playing hardball with Obama. They should be applauded. They did not pay off HHS to get a waiver, they threatened them.
They should have played hardball by letting the insurance lapse to illustrate the problems with this legislation. They are going to get screwed by this government.
