Mitt Romneys supporters on Capitol Hill are giving him political cover for the healthcare plan he signed into law as governor, even as his competitors for the GOP presidential nomination ramp up their attacks on RomneyCare.
Romneys healthcare reform initiative in Massachusetts is viewed as one of his biggest political liabilities going into the Republican primary, due to its similarities to President Obamas healthcare overhaul.
But leading conservatives, including supporters of Romney during his 2008 presidential run, argue that the Massachusetts plan isnt a deal-breaker.
One of the reasons I endorsed Romney [in 2008] is his attempts to make private health insurance available at affordable prices, said Sen. Jim DeMint (S.C.), a GOP kingmaker.

It worked! Just had to give it time.
Here's me lifting a cold frosty this evening to join you in spirit. What a nasty, frustrated tool he was. Ahhh, the place looks brighter, too!
I'm going to have to remember to be on my very best behavior, Admin Mod's blood is up, fresh from a kill... LOL!
8^D
Congress has legitimate constitutional authority to regulate what is truly interstate commerce. Nowhere in the Constitution is authority granted to control intrastate commerce, a category health care would fall under in any sane analysis.
That’s the difference.
And I have zero confidence in the Republicans to understand that critically important difference. Many of them have no problem with acting unconstitutionally and really believe they can do socialism better than the Democrats. RomneyCare would be a good example of what I’m talking about, or GW Bush’s Medicare Part D.
No more Pissant? That should be in Breaking News.Yup. How long was he on FR before he finally went so far off the deep end as to undo himself?
It's got to be pretty rare for a long-timer to get zotted, no?
It's OK Pissant, zot looks good on you.
When you require a person to under penalty of law buy a product or service or face a tax/fine if they do not, for no other reason that because you simply EXIST....
Calling that an afront to liberty is not OVERBLOWN, it is exactly what it is.
The fact that ANYONE who believes in personal liberty even the slightest is putting any kind of support behind Romney is unfathonable. The fact he is being mentioned as a candidate for president is mind blowing.
IF Romney and Huckabee are the best the GOP can offer, we deserve the 4 more years of Fauxbama we will get.
Yes, I used to really like him but when he went on the anti-Palin tear, he just seemed to go overboard. He appeared to lose his sense of humor and perspective.
I have no problem with people not falling all over Sarah Palin (I like her, but do not worship her), but the level of vitriol had become unacceptable.
I wish pissant well.
He really poked his thumb into Jim’s eye once too often. It was a blatant raspberry. Plus his PDS has gotten way past just disagreements. Farewell, Pissy. For however long.
Let me know if you get an answer to either question.
Oh, I can’t wait for THAT. An adult who loves America in charge.
I wish I had a great answer for that. We’ve got THE WORST president in our nation’s history, a sort of Muzzichurian candidate of sorts, and there hasn’t been a clearly qualified well rounded on point Conservative come forward.
With regard to Palin, I’d like to back her, but backing McCain, urging her Senators to back the LOST Treaty, advocating for illegal immigrants to register so they can stay here and work, it is clear to me she isn’t the person I can support.
We need another eight Bush-like years like we need another hole in the head.
Obama is the over-riding Bush legacy. It’s sad, but when you get right down to it, that is what he handed off to us.
We must get it right this time. And yet, I don’t see that guy standing up and coming forward. Very disappointing...
Let me know what you come up with.
Yep, that's my take on it.
Folks who agree with me more often than not, please don't do this to yourself. It accomplishes nothing.
Your voice has now gone silent here. Some will be glad, but I am not. Still, if that was what you were going to use for voice for here, then what other option was there?
LOL, I’m not sure where the saying came from. At any rate, when you through yourself in front of a bus, there isn’t much else to wait for.
The dead cat bounce and 1 cent chits I suppose. ;^)

Will do

I agree, and I wish him well, too.
I was never quite sure whether the guy was just operating on some twisted personal obsession, or whether he was on someone's payroll - or both.
My biggest gripe with him was not that he disliked Gov Palin, but that he waged a non-stop, 24/7, one man jihad on this website against her. I always believed that that was an abuse of FR, and that he should have just started his own hate Palin blog.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's already launched one, since he no longer has FR for an outlet.
I’m not saying that he was without flaws, but that last remark was unusual for him.
I understood you comment. I agree. Didn’t mean to infer otherwise.
