So unfav: Palin's poll plunge
Politico ^ | 3/10/11 | ANDY BARR

Sarah Palin’s unfavorable rating is off the charts.

The former Alaska governor’s numbers are astonishingly upside-down, according to a new Bloomberg poll showing a 32 percentage point spread between those who have an unfavorable rating of Palin and those who view her favorably.

Of the 60 percent in the poll who have an unfavorable opinion of Palin, more than half of them – 38 percent among the whole survey – said they have a “very” unfavorable view of Palin.

Her “very” unfavorable rating is higher than the total favorability ratings of Newt Gingrich, Donald Trump and Chris Christie.

The new poll is a dip from a December Bloomberg poll showing Palin with a net favorable rating of 33 percent and a net unfavorable rating of 57 percent.

The survey is just one more indicator that if Palin were to run, she'd face a very strong headwind whenever trying to reach out to voters beyond her hardcore supporters.

More people surveyed had an opinion of Palin than any other politician surveyed except for Barack Obama, indicating that her numbers are not likely to swing wildly one way or the other.

The poll of 1,001 adults was conducted March 4-7 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Do your own work. Use your own critical judgment. You base your perception of your fellow Americans primarily on the portrait of them as it is presented by the MSM and pop culture. STOP DOING THAT and start looking at other evidence. You can start by reading the reader comments on news stories at non-conservative news sites like L.A. Times and Yahoo News.

Obama is loathed, and Liberalims is loathed, by many -- I think it's safe to say a decent majority -- of regular old Americans who also think that there's not a dime's bit of difference between Republicans and Democrats (and because big government moderate RINOs have for so long pissed in the Republican well of representing the "brand" of limited government, it's hard to argue with them). Don't ask me to link -- DO YOUR OWN WORK. And ask yourself: if a majority of voters support liberal politicians, then why do liberals have to cheat to win? The answer? They have to cheat because legitimate voters who reject liberalism are the majority.

YOU, my FRiend, are being manipulated by the MSM into having a distorted view of your fellow Americans. The only way to STOP being manipulated is to start using your own eyes and your own smarts and to engage in critical, independent analysis of the reality that is sitting right in front of you. I advise that you remember at all times that cynics and pessismists are VERY DIFFERENT from realists. Many people make the mistake of falling for the myth that in order to be a realist, one must also be cynical and/or pessimistic.

A realist has a lot more courage than a pessimist or a cynic. May you be blessed with such courage.

Here’s the real question, what conservative can survive the media onslaught? Look what they are doing to Walker in Wisconsin. In short, screw the negatives, fill steam ahed.

Exactly what do you think that Romney can do well that I should weigh in his favor against his major weaknesses in controlling spending and restoring limited government?

Let's leave the defense of Romney's weaknesses for someone who actually supports the man. Governing Massachusettes is very different from governing Alaska, but clearly Masachusettes is the more complex task. That being said, we can't possibly know how either candidate might handle the presidency until he or she actually gets there. As of this moment, Romney gets points for his business background, something no other potential candidate can challenge. That being said, I can guarantee you right now that I won't be voting for either Romney or Palin in my primary. If my choice was only those two, I would vote for Palin. I just have a problem with absoutes, and people who feel the need to destroy any other candidate than their own at this stage in the game.

I would like her to run anyway. I think she would make an outstanding President. If these polls are correct than the left doesn’t have a thing to worry about. If she is not what the polls say than the FREEPERS will be very happy. Why not just let her run and see what happens. It is a win-win in the world of politics.

You do get that Palin can not possibly be better at everything that Romney, right? I have little use for the man, but for one thing, he's clearly smarter than Palin. He's smarter than Reagan too. So is Obama.

Just wow.

You just revealed yourself to be incredibly obtuse. You wouldn't know "smart" if it bit you in the ass. You would think a shaved-head, hard-living high-school-diploma-only blue-collar iron worker/pipe fitter with an IQ in the high 140s (I know two such individuals), was "stupider" than a Harvard grad with an IQ of 125.

Your post tells me that you are actually a lamb in the jungle.

“Palin= a good looking GWB”
______________

Wrong. Palin wants to cut federal spending and work down the national debt. GWB couldn’t be bothered about any of that.

Do your own work. Use your own critical judgment.

It's sort of a rule around here that when someone shares outlandish opinions, they are going to be required to back them up. Your statement that there is high probability that Obama won't get then Democratic Nomination sounds like wishful thinking to me. That's why I asked for justification. I am aware that a lot of people on our side would like to see Obama face a legitimate primary challenge (and all the friendly fire would accompany it). Unfortunately, the left it not suicidal. Sure, some of them are pissed that we're still in Iraq, and Guantanamo is still taking reservations, but it seems to me that you're ignoring their main motivation: Keeping a Republican out of the White House, just as so many Republicans were willing to sacrifice their principles and nominate John McCain for one reason, and one reason only: They believed he could win. I have no doubt that Obama will have to face someone like Dennis Kucinnich for a month or two next year. He will ignore this blip on his radar, probably not even bothering to debate someone so insignificant. The only person who might offer a legitimate contest is Hillary Clinton, and Chris Christie has a better chance of getting into the race than she does.

BTW, there is a BIG difference between "Fellow Americans" and registered Democrats. You need to keep that in mind.

“You do understand that there are some things that Romney would be better at than than Palin, right?”
_______________

Right. Nobody can flip flop like the ol’ Mittster.

“I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan-Bush.” - Mitt Romney, 1994

“Ronald Reagan is ... my hero. ... I believe that our party’s ascendancy began with Ronald Reagan’s brand of visionary and courageous leadership.” - Mitt Romney, 2007

We’ll never know, Gipper, but it’s hard to find examples of “stupid talk”, from a conservative perspective, since the campaign. Bob

There's a lot to like about Sara Palin. She's great at memorizing and regurgitating talking points, for one thing. But if you're saying she's got an IQ outside the 120's, I am done trying to convince you of anything. Other recent presidents more intelligent than Palin would include Clinton, both Bushes and Jimmy Carter. Where she beats them is in self-confidence (also vital to successful CIC's) Since Kennedy, the only president who appears to believe in himself more than Palin does is Clinton.

Presidents (and governors) delegates. It's not always necessary that a president be the brightest person in the room. Reagan rarely was, Clinton and Nixon always were.

Bush also failed to defend good people serving him, such as Scooter Libby, the border agents and the Haditha 8. And he caved on overseas transmission interceptions, waterboarding terrorists, “campaign finance reform, toname just a few. Sarah is not a punching bag. Bob

You believe ( I almost wrote "think", but it is now patently obvious that you are incapable of actually THINKING ), that Romney is "smarter than Palin, REAGAN, and Obama" ? In what universe; based on just what factual info?

As far as Mitten's supposed business acumen, that is an outright lie/propaganda/incontrovertible hyperbole ! I do heartily suggest that you look into what he did and did not do, whilst in the private sector, as well as the lies he and his supporters have shoveled down your throat, vis-a-vis his supposed "saving" of the Olympics. For a better understanding, it would behoove you to investigate old Mitt's handling ( actually NOT handling ) his responsibilities at Bain Capital and other such business ventures.

Romney has far less of a chance, should, God forefend, he be the GOP candidate, of beating Obama ( or any other Dem candidate ), than Gov. Palin; even with her supposed "huge" negatives !

I wish that I knew why there is so much hate on FR. FR is almost to the point where it is no longer an enjoyable experience because disagreements can't just be disagreements... they have to be warfare. I despise liberals... not fellow FReepers... oh and I despise rinoids... all flavors, shapes and sizes.

You are confused. I am not endorsing Romney in any way. I’d just like to see a little objectivity around here once in a while.

If Reagan had run with McCain in ‘08, he would have been trashed just like Palin, b/c he was the REAL DEAL. His popularity would have taken a crushing blow as well. It’s up to us to decide whether we will allow the Communists to determine which candidates we put forward. They are not scared of Romney, Gingrich or Huckabee; have you noticed their silence? Bob

Just HOW do you know what Gov. Palin's IQ is and just HOW are you gauging the "intelligence" of Slick Willie, the idiot peanut farmer Carter, etc. ?

And BTW.................Obama "believes in himself" far more than JFK ever did!

"Marxist Obama as resident in chief for four years guarantees us a renewal of true republicanism in both the congress and the white house. We the people are fed up with socialism and the corrupt Marxist bastards ramming unconstitutional acts down our throats, witness the tea party rebellion. We want our freedom and our constitutional republican form of government back!! And we’re going to get it!!"

Wrong. What it gets us is Argentina! This nation won't survive this administration; the American people won't get a chance to undo the damage being done, its simply too late. When America is only a memory, it should be interesting to hear what the Obama voters have to say. I know I plan on asking them if it was worth it and then I will thank them for their wisdom.
