ABC News White House correspondent Jake Tapper wrote on Twitter about 40 minutes ago that the Obama administration is basically clueless as to the ramifications to the United States of the overthrow of the Egyptian government of Hosni Mubarak.
"Also worth keeping in mind: cant find anyone in O admin who thinks whatever comes next will be better for U.S. interests than Mubarak was"
This comes after Obama campaigned for Mubarak's overthrow.
I hope Egypt ends up a secular republic based on democratic voting with freedom and justice for all that doesn't wage war on Israel.
Does Obama?
I had never heard of Naguib, so I looked him up on Wikipedia:
In late 1954, however, Nasser accused Naguib of supporting the recently outlawed Muslim Brotherhood and of harbouring dictatorial ambitions. A brief power struggle broke out between Naguib and Nasser for control of the military and of Egypt. Nasser ultimately won the struggle and managed to force Naguib to resign from the presidency of Egypt in November 1954.
Egypt has been struggling to keep the Muslim Brotherhood out of power since 1954. Nasser died of natural causes. Sadat was killed by the MB. Mubarak was just ousted by the MB. I think Egypt just lost the struggle.
It really is the new Iranian Revolution, though it will take some time for people to see the damage that Obama has done.
” No one in Obama admin thinks U.S. better off after Mubarak overthrow “
And yet, they did everything but send in a couple of mechanized divisions to bring about the Mubarak overthrow...
Conclusion - The Obama Administration is not the least bit interested in making the U.S. better off....
When the Muslim Brotherhood takes over then everyone will know we aren’t better off.
That's what Egypt ostensibly was, though the people never fully appreciated it, and allowed it to be ruled by autocrats. Gee, isn't that what we're seeing happening here?
Now, 5 years down the road, they may remember Mubarak with some fondness.
If I am not mistaken Tapper attended the superbowl party with the omabao.
He has NO credibility to me. NONE.
propaganda wing of the left covering for him now if it goes all tits up

they seem to think the left are irrelevant, the left are not over there, Soros , code pink have nothing to do with this and that this is all good because Bush started it.
you did a great job yesterday on a thread with good info but I can’t find the thread now
Obama probably provided t shirts that say yes we can they are all wearing under their dishda’s and thobes. Obama probably paid Mobarry a billion or so. And now Obama can’t even backtrack without flubbing.
He doesn't want it for us.
The most charitable interpretation (from Obama's perspective) would be that the US never had any control over events there, and never had any options.
And in a sense that would be correct: Mubarak was going to fall soon in any case, either because of something like what has just happened, or because he's terminally ill.
If that's true, then Obama's statements amount to nothing more than mere posturing, for domestic political benefit (and, of course, to stroke his own narcissism).
A more interesting alternative, is that Obama is running open loop here, and his administration is not on the same page with him.

Did she do this when they made a movie about killing our last President?
Egypt is NOT Eastern Europe.
When the former Soviet satellite states threw out THEIR dictators, most of those nations had some past experience in democracy and were not beholden to a corrupt religion.
Egypt is zero past experience in democracy and is absolutely a backward nation.
Another Islamic genie has been released and it’s not going to be a pretty one.
Tapper could pretty much have stopped there and have had a complete and accurate report about any topic, not just Egypt. I mourn for my country's impending fate.
“Let’s overthrow a thirty year ally without any idea what comes next. Didn’t we do this thirty-some years ago to Iran?”
32 years ago to the day.
“I hope Egypt ends up a secular republic based on democratic voting with freedom and justice for all that doesn’t wage war on Israel.”
My hope too although not likely.
“Does Obama?”
Rhetorical question I’m sure, but I’ll answer anyway. NO!
Sorry about that, copied a bit too much by mistake on my Crackberry.
Third world uprisings are intriguing to watch unfold.
Lets see how this impacts American interests, long term.
I agree 100%.
There MAY be a short-term democracy-like govt, but in the end, the MB/Islamists will take over then the whole ME will explode.
Now they're going to hound Mubarak and his family to the grave. Watch, it's coming.
Good job Obama/Hillary!
