From FOX:
DEVELOPING: Loud explosions and gunfire were heard in the Egyptian capital of Cairo Friday, as protesters demanding the removal of President Hosni Mubarak defied a curfew, Al Jazeera reported. Egyptian television reports the ruling party headquarters in Cairo are on fire.
From TWITTER:
WashingtonPost: Clinton: We urge #Egypt authorities to allow peaceful protest, reverse unprecedented steps it has taken to cut off communications less than 20 seconds ago
I spoke with Allegra yesterday, says there has been a lot of shooting, but our troops are being held to a low profile.
The new replacements were getting nervous and Al’ spent most of the time reassuring them. Other than that, haven’t heard back since.
That is possible; he has made some noises about how this means the restoration of the Caliphate, etc. I think ethnic hostilities would probably prevent him from emerging as the leader of such a diverse group of countries, but it's hard to say.
Thanks for the link. I remember being dumbfounded when I saw that months ago, but had forgotten about it.
So we trained and coordinated with Muslim Brotherhood ‘community activists’ from 20 countries. And it appears as if only a half dozen of them have started to pop so far...
Thanks for update- so much at stake in the ME.
Photos and video of military jets flying over #Egypt http://huff.to/egyptnews
Far away from the situation everything seems far worse than it does right there. Most are safe where they are.
Ok- here comes the front man for the MB flexing his Nobel muscles and perhaps giving us a taste of the new diplomacy we can expect:

1512 And more from the Nobel peace laureate: he has reportedly told CNN that President Mubarak must leave the country “today” to make way for a unity government.
1507 A new comment from opposition politician Mohamed ElBaradei, reported by the AFP news agency: The US is “losing credibility by the day” by support the Mubarak regime, the former UN nuclear chief says.
frightening!!!!
That's my guess, which led me to this thought: Why are so many people always guessing what Obama's motives and intentions are? I hate to go all Occam's Razor, but this thing might be playing out exactly the way he planned it.
It will be interesting to see how the oil markets react tonight.
What is so critical here is, Egypt controls the Suez Canal. Most of the World’s Oil is shipped through there.
The guy is not the genius everyone makes him out to be.
Actually the phrase is
“the hidden mahdi.”
The only leader right now who has anything “hidden” is 0bama. From his birth records, to school records, to his real past life/lives...all are hidden.
The laughable nobel prize he won was for ... international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples.
Speaking outside the White House, he said he would accept the prize as a “call to action”. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8298580.stm
“It will be interesting to see how the oil markets react tonight.”
Through the roof would be my guess.
Indeed- to say nothing of wheat and foodstuffs etc. I imagine the Marines are going over contingency plans- regardless of WHAT the CIC is doing.
I love you, PSYCHO-FREEP. Cooler heads must prevail at this point.
Stand Down, please. I am standing down. Waiting, if one cares to say,
yet knowing all is not well, while saying prayers, and realizing all
may not be enough, knowing never the less, OUR Son and Daughters
should and must have OUR full support, for this move to remove OUR
Son and Daughters out of Egypt and the Middle East.
God will have His way.
Snort. That takes some chutzpah given ElB's performance at the IAEA.
Obama - “We are the change we have been waiting for”
Nile TV reports prison outbreaks throughout #Egypt. Number of escapees unclear, but > 3000 arrested.
” It will be interesting to see how the oil markets react tonight. “
The timing makes this a possible outlier ‘dot’ to be ‘connected’...

Is Something Serious Up at Treasury?
Economic Policy Journal ^ | 1/29/2011 | Robert Wenzel

On Sunday, Treasury Secretary Geithner will have dinner at Treasury with former secretaries of the Treasury.
What’s up with this? There was no indication on the weekly Treasury schedule, put out just a day ago, that this dinner was planned. Very unusual.
On top of that, the Treasury put this notice out at 9:00PM on a Saturday night. Sure looks like a rushed meeting to me.
