Wilmington, Delaware (CNN) -- Police have found homicide victim John Wheeler's cell phone, according to a taxi driver who was interviewed by investigators this week.
Athel Scott told CNN National Correspondent Susan Candiotti that police told him they found the cab driver's number in the phone of Wheeler, the former Pentagon official who was found dead in a Delaware landfill. He said investigators wanted to know how his number got there. Scott... says he told the police he didn't have any idea.
"I never got a call from the man. I don't know him... He's never been in my cab. I don't know how my number got in his cellphone," Scott says he told police...

Meant to add: nothing new in the quick searches I have done. I hope there is a flurry of activity behind the scenes.
Catching up here. I fully realize his medical conditions do not reflect his intellect. It is because he was so smart, so driven and so accomplished that I am surprised the behavior characteristics he displayed that night were described as normal by his wife and those same behavior characteristics would not affect a clearance level.
And of course, we know from Dill that Jack had a long conversation with a young lady at the Post Office.
Many questions remain. I checked google news and found nothing new posed over the weekend or so far today about Jack Wheeler. I have emailed Web sites and newspapers re this homicide.
Thanks for the ping.
I think when I looked a week or so ago, John P Wheeler death returned about 1,100,000 results on google. Today it’s over 3 million. Bing returns 10 million 4hundredthousand. That’s a lot of eyes opening up.
I’m sure it may be nothing. Just struck me as a little odd that Oracle was present in the mix if it was just to put a computer in every pot.
I don’t think the kids (which likely were in their 40’s or 50’s) came back.
There’s only two nights that person(s) unknown could have been at the Wheeler home - the 28th and 29th.
We need a bone to chew on - we need someone to release the exact time and date Wheeler got into Wilmington.
Thank you so much for finding and posting that - I hope everyone who has been working on this here will leave a message.
Keep Jack’s memory alive and his name in the news, find the perps!!
Remember, the neighbor said it was boistrous over there...not the same thing as just a radio being on......
And Dill wasn't too upset when he saw the window open on the evening of the 29th...he waited until the next day to take care of it...
I think that PERHAPS Jack came home to a wrecked out house...a house that the Dills had NOT yet checked.
They said "BROKEN DISHES" (plural) in the sink. "Guests would leave them there...An owner would get them out of the house and into the rubbish.
I'm having trouble with the Dill scenario because in early interviews...it was never mentioned that he took Jack to the Post Office first (or at all) where Jack picked up a BIG box..., never mentioned that Dills kids were at the house, never mentioned that he called Jack and Jack's wife (He called Jack's wife at the wrong number at first). So why did Dill call Jack once and her twice??
This seems to be correct: Jack arrived in Wilmington about 9 AM on the 29th.

My intuition still says the house was neat as a pin when Dill locked up on the 27th. The dishes were broken in anger by someone who didn’t belong in the house and didn’t think Jack would be needing dishes anymore. Circumstantial evidence screams it wasn’t a run-of-the-mill slimeball who helped himself to a sandwich.
So why would someone be camped out at Wheeler’s, except of course the obvious - that Jack was to be murdered at home? maybe to avoid a hotel record? Ate at Jacks means no restaurant either. Back to Jack’s to clean up after murdering him? comet? shower? barefoot?
(i was thinking about the Comet - what if the kids/Dill spilled something, used comet to clean it up, but you know, when it’s wet, it looks clean and not until it dries do you notice there’s still a powder residue - something that would not be noticed in a darkened house)
The likely approach to the Wheeler house was via the park-side and through the construction - less ‘street’ time - and it explains the mud - and, it’s exactly the same path taken by grey sweatshirt dude. Not much else besides mud to connect the Wheeler house to the Marini house since the Marini house is still a shell.
Anyway, we’ve got someone who knows Wheeler’s schedule (and, who knows Mrs. Wheeler’s schedule, too - that she would be in NYC), but who doesn’t know about Wheeler being delayed, who knows he’s got a small window before Wheeler is off to Boston for a wedding, and he/they are waiting in the dark like cockroaches.
Someone who’s familiar with downtown Wilmington and New Castle and Newark. And garbage schedules. Which means a well-planned murder. Except Wheeler went and got himself robbed, which threw the timeing of the entire plan off - that’s where the anger and the broken dishes (and, imo, the smokebombs) come from. (new thought: were the smokebombs originally intended to be used to set fire to Wheeler’s house after Wheeler was murdered?????)
We are definitely not in amateur land anymore, and things are starting to get a little spookier, in the very literal sense of the word.
Smokebomb dude is the perp and smokebomb dude is almost certainly a ghost. imo
